...Ike Wallops TX/LA...

It was a long, dark and scary night for folks in Southeast Texas and
Southwest Louisiana as Hurricane Ike roared ashore with a huge storm
surge and relentless winds. Ike was over the Piney Woods of East
Texas, heading toward Tyler this afternoon, slowly weakening as it
moves away from its energy source, the Gulf of Mexico. Inland Tropical
Storm warnings do extend as far north as Texarkana. It will move
into Arkansas tonight, passing well west of Little Rock and then into
Missouri. Tornadoes will be a threat, especially to the east of the
track. Rainfall will be heavy, but flooding should not be a problem
since the storm is moving quickly.

OUR WEATHER: Windy and hot this afternoon across Central Alabama,
with any outer band activity limited to southwestern sections of the
area. It should be fair, but muggy overnight. As Ike's remnants move
quickly northeast on Sunday into southern Illinois, a cold front will
push towards Alabama. Thunderstorms will move into the warm and humid
airmass over Alabama by Sunday afternoon,a nd hopefully, we will see
some fairly widespread beneficial rainfall. This forecast is not
brimming with confidence at this time, but we can hope. The front
will slow as it runs into the strong subtropical high over the
Southeast, making it only into Central Alabama Sunday night. There
are signs that a little frontal wave could move across the area Sunday
night into Monday, bringing another uptick in rain chances. Look for
drier air to move in by Monday night, giving us a touch of fall as we
head into the midweek time period. We could see lows in the lower 60s
for much of the week ahead.

FOOTBALL FORECAST: Did you see the amazing pictures of Jones AT&T
Stadium in Lubbock Friday after and all time daily record of 7.60
inches of rain fell on the city Thursday? The field was under about 6
feet of water yesterday. SMU comes calling on Texas Tech there
tonight, where the weather should be much improved. Houston has moved
their game with Air Force to SMU's stadium in Dallas, and Ike is
stalking them there still. Closer to home, Auburn will be at
Mississippi State for a 6:00 p.m. kick off tonight. Only a slight
chance of a shower with temperatures dropping from the mid 80s to near
80. Western Kentucky will be in Tuscaloosa to play Alabama also at
6:00 p.m. Temperatures will be similar to what Auburn has in
Starkville. UAB will be in Knoxville for an 11:30 kick off to play
Tennessee. Temperatures will be in the 80s and only a small risk of a
shower during the game.

ALL TIME RECORD DAILY RAINFALL: Those kinds of records don't come
around everyday, but we had one Thursday in Lubbock as mentioned.
Then South Bend, Indiana recorded their all time daily record rainfall
on Friday as 5.40 inches fell.

ON THIS DATE IN 1988: Hurricane Gilbert became the strongest
Atlantic Hurricane of record when its central pressure is measured by
a reconnaissance plane at 888 millibars. Winds were recorded at 185
mph with gusts to 200 mph. The storm had undergone incredible
strengthening during the preceding 24 hours as its central pressure
deepened an amazing 72 millibars. It had struck the island of Jamaica
24 hours before, yet had not weakened noticeably in spite of the
island's 7,000 foot mountains. It struck the Yucatan peninsula
shortly after attaining this record strength.

...Ike Lumbers Ashore...

Hurricane Ike is crashing ashore on the Upper Texas coast on this
Saturday morning. The huge system has been dominating the Gulf of
Mexico for the better part of four days now, befuddling forecasters
and keeping folks all along the Gulf Coast up nights. Ike will bring
horrible weather to much of eastern Texas today and Sunday as it
rounds the weakening ridge of high pressure and slowly dies.

IKE: THE CATEGORY TWO STORM WITH A CATEGORY FOUR SURGE: The video
was compelling. As early as 7 a.m. Friday morning, it was obvious
that storm surge was barreling inland over Southeast Texas and
Southwest Louisiana. And the storm was still 280 miles away! The
huge storm didn't start pulling its arms in until late in the game,
and it became a major hurricane only in the final hours before
landfall. Good thing. The Category Two/Three hurricane had a
Category Four/Five surge. Galveston built a seawall after the deadly
1900 hurricane, it has protected the city for over a century. But Ike
has been its match. The hurricane will continue inland moving into
Northeast Texas overnight and into Sunday morning, spreading high
winds, flooding rains and tornadoes along its path into Arkansas.

ALABAMA'S WEATHER: It's gonna be a hot one across Central Alabama
on this September Saturday as we experience subsidence, or sinking
air, from Hurricane Ike. We can't rule out the development of a few
showers or storms along the outer periphery of Ike's circulation, but
they will be scarce. Temperatures will rise into the lower 90s this
afternoon. Tomorrow will feature increasing clouds and a breezy south
wind as the remnant low of Ike moves into southeastern Missouri,
pushing a cool front our way. Showers will develop Sunday afternoon,
with better rain chances for Sunday night. Rainfall amounts will be
generally light, less than one half inch. The rain should be gone by
Monday and a spate of fine weather will build into Alabama for the
rest of the week.

JOSEPHINE? The remnants of Josephine are northeast of the
southeastern Bahamas today, moving slowly west northwest. Some
development is possible The rest of the tropics are quiet.

FOOTBALL FORECAST: Auburn will be at Mississippi State for a 6:00
p.m. kick off tonight. Only a slight chance of a shower with
temperatures dropping from the mid 80s to near 80. Western Kentucky
will be in Tuscaloosa to play Alabama also at 6:00 p.m. Temperatures
will be similar to what Auburn has in Starkville. UAB will be in
Knoxville for an 11:30 kick off to play Tennessee. Temperatures will
be in the 80s and only a small risk of a shower during the game.

ON THIS DATE IN 1843: The town of Port Leon, Florida cannot be
found on a modern map of the Sunshine State. On this date in 1843, a
hurricane inundated the town with a ten foot storm surge. Almost all
of the buildings in the town were destroyed. One person drowned in
the town and at least a dozen people were killed in surrounding
areas. The townspeople voted unanimously not to rebuild the town.
The residents moved upriver to higher ground and established the town
of Newport.

...Ike No Ordinary Hurricane...

MOST OF ALABAMA IKE FREE: All across North and Central Alabama, we
will be pretty much untouched by powerful Hurricane Ike, but the
Alabama coastal area has not fared so well. A Coastal Flood Warning
continues through tonight all along the Alabama coast and until noon
tomorrow. A High Surf Warning was also in effect this afternoon. The
NWS in Mobile says that large, long-period swells, high seas and
dangerous surf will continue to impact the beaches from Dauphin Island
westward to Destin. The strong SE winds will continue. The strong wind
and swells have already caused coastal flooding along area beachfronts
and there were several reports of water covering roads.

Across North and Central Alabama, including all of the Birmingham,
Anniston and Tuscaloosa areas, we will notice very little impact from
Ike, although over the weekend some of the winds may increase to as
high as 20 mph. We foresee only a slight risk of a shower or
thunderstorm this evening and a few again Sunday night. Probably our
best chance of getting some showers and storms will be Monday as a
weak front gets down into this area. By Tuesday, you should notice a
pleasant drop in the humidity and high temperatures backing off to the
low or mid 80s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: For high school games tonight, very little risk of
a shower. Temperatures at kick off around 85 and near 80 by
the end of the game. Very humid conditions. Auburn will be at
Mississippi State for a 6:00 p.m. kick off tomorrow.

HISTORIC HURRICANE IKE: Let's go ahead and call him historic because
he is going to be remembered for many years to come. In some ways, I
don't like judging the category of a hurricane only on the sustained
wind and pressure. Ike is a huge hurricane and at times today he was
so spread out that he covered at least half of the Gulf of Mexico. His
hurricane-force wind profile goes out a very long distance and
storm-force winds even greater. He is approaching the upper Texas
coast in such a way that he is driving huge waves on shore long before
he makes landfall. This has caused major beach erosion and battering
waves. Some reports say that only 50% of Galveston evacuated and a lot
of Houston did not evacuate. This means that people are going to be in
extreme danger and don't be surprised to hear of a high fatality
count. At midday, water was 4-feet deep at the courthouse in Cameron,
Louisiana. The pier at Galveston will likely be destroyed and numerous
homes will go down under the force of the huge battering waves. At
landfall, winds will gust over 100 mph in places like Galveston and
Houston and maybe on the SW coast of Louisiana. Because of his size,
Ike is probably going to cause a total storm damage as much as a
Category 4 or possibly a Category 5. He is not to be taken lightly,
but it is almost too late.

...Ike Is the Man...

HURRICANE IKE—A HUGE WEATHER MACHINE: He is a big one and he covers a
big part of the Gulf of Mexico. He is churning up that big body of
water with huge waves as he continues moving toward the WNW heading
for a landfall believed to be on the upper Texas coast. This afternoon
a Hurricane Warning was in effect from Morgan City, Louisiana to
Baffin Bay, Texas. Hurricane conditions could reach the coast in that
warning area by late tomorrow.

A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from east of Morgan City to the
Mississippi/Alabama border. This includes New Orleans and Lake
Pontchartrain. Because the strong winds of Ike were moving a long way
over water, big waves were occurring along the Alabama/NW Florida
coast and some beaches were closed. Even some roads were closed
because of high water. The NWS
in Mobile warns that the danger of rip currents is high.

Ike was passing about 300 miles south of Dauphin Island this
afternoon, so he is causing problems over at least a 600-mile radius.
Hurricane force winds extended 115 miles from the center and tropical
storm force winds extend out an amazing 275 miles.

Ike could increase in strength to a Category 3 and possibly even a
Category 4 before making landfall. A lot of people are evacuating the
Texas coast.
There is an added threat that is so common with land-falling
hurricanes and that is spin-off tornadoes. That danger may exist as
far east as the Alabama coast to all the way down the Texas coast.

Still another problem is flash flooding. Ike will dump enormous
amounts of rain inland. Estimates are that as much as 10 inches could
fall along the Texas coast and 8 to 10 inches northward through East
Texas and East Oklahoma into SW Missouri. Ike is now larger than
Katrina in size.

CENTRAL ALABAMA AND IKE: No real strong impact across the Birmingham
metro area and most of Central Alabama. In fact, showers and
thunderstorms will become rather scarce. There will be some widely
scattered ones tonight and tomorrow, but very few on Saturday and
Sunday. There are indications that, after Ike moves inland and heads
up toward the Ohio River by Monday, a cool front will move across
Alabama Monday night. That should drop our humidity next Tuesday and
Wednesday with some early morning lows near 60 and maybe some upper
50s in North Alabama valleys.

GLOBAL ROAMING: Some of the mountains around Jackson Hole, Wyoming
are sporting a dusting of snow today. Snow showers are forecast again
tonight in the Grand Tetons as well as in Yellowstone National Park…in
the valleys of the NE U.S., the first frost of the season this
morning. The temperature dropped to 29 at Saranac Lake in Upstate New
York…some other cold temperatures this morning 23 in Stanley, Idaho,
28 in Yellowstone Park and 24 in Beaver, Alaska.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Little Miss Molly and I have hardly
spoken today. I did take her out for an early morning walk, but the
rest of the day has been wall-to-wall weather and it will be that way
until late tonight and through most of the weekend. I do take time out
when I can to sit her up on my desk and let her look out the window.
If the little Yorkie passes by, she gets so excited she almost jumps
off my desk. I hug her a lot in the few minutes she visits my desk.
Life goes on.

...Weekend Looking Hot and Mostly Dry...

HERE IN ALABAMA: We will continue to mention the risk of scattered
afternoon showers and thunderstorms later today; most of them will
come in the 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. time frame, during the peak of the
daytime heating process. The chance of any one spot getting wet this
afternoon is about one in three. Showers will become fewer in number
tomorrow as high pressure aloft builds over Alabama, and at this time
the weekend looks generally rain-free with only isolated showers. And,
the weather heats over the weekend with highs in the 90 to 93 degree
range Saturday, about 5 to 8 degrees above average values for mid-
September.

The upper ridge is now expected to hold into the first two days of
next week, meaning any showers on Monday and Tuesday will be few and
far between, due to the warm air aloft making for a very stable
atmosphere. At this time it looks like the moisture from Hurricane Ike
will move through Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and into Illinois and
Indiana by early next week.

DANGEROUS HURRICANE HEADING FOR TEXAS: Ike is expected to become a
major hurricane this morning (category three on the Saffir-Simpson
scale) as it moves west/northwest across the open water of the
southern Gulf of Mexico. With warm SSTs (sea surface temperatures) and
light winds aloft, Ike is actually expected to reach category four
status within the next 24 hours, making this a potentially very
dangerous situation for those along the Texas coastal plain along and
north of where the eye makes landfall.

The latest track from NHC takes Ike into the Texas coast between
Matagorda Bay and Galveston during the early morning hours Saturday.
At least one million people will begin evacuating from this area this
morning; contra-flow is expected to be established along major
Interstate and U.S. highways that lead inland from the coast. A storm
surge to 18 feet is possible in Matagorda Bay, with a surge of up to
10 feet in Galveston Bay. We should also note that the models have
been trending slowly to the north, meaning the threat to the Galveston/
Houston area is increasing. The worst storm surge will be along and
north of where the eye makes landfall; that is where the hurricane
will feature intense onshore winds. South of the landfall point, winds
will be blowing offshore. A hurricane watch is in effect from Cameron,
Louisiana to Port Mansfield, Texas.

We should note that Ike will bring the risk of significant flooding to
much of East Texas, along with the possibility of a few isolated
tornadoes in the spiral bands wrapping around the system.

A SIGN OF THE TIMES: Some communities around the Great Lakes had first
first frost of the season yesterday morning. Some spots actually
touched the freezing mark; the low at Houghton Lake and Pellston was
32. Upper air winds won't allow any of that to invade Alabama for at
least the next five to seven days.

...Ike is the Main Story...

THE ALABAMA SITUATION: Moist air still blankets the state and we will
have scattered showers and thunderstorms fairly prominently into
Friday. Probably our more numerous ones will be tomorrow and some
communities this afternoon and again tomorrow will get downpours of
rain while other areas stay high and dry.

Again yesterday, slow-moving thunderstorms dumped 1.64 inches at Guin
and well over an inch in places like Wetumpka, Winfield and Sylacauga.

More thunderstorms developed early this afternoon over East/Central
Alabama and they were moving ever so slowly toward the WSW.
Those will gradually increase in number for the remainder of this
afternoon and evening. With the extra clouds and showers, high
temperatures through Friday should stay in the upper 80s. Looks like a
lot more sunshine Saturday and Sunday, even though we will have some
widely scattered showers and storms, but the high temperatures will
slip back into the lower 90s.

AT THE BEACH: Ike is going to cause all kinds of problems even though
we do not expect landfall anywhere along the Alabama/NW
Florida/Mississippi coast. Showers and thunderstorms will become
numerous by tomorrow along the Alabama coast and probably continue
that way until Friday. The circulation around Ike is so big that SE
winds will be gusting to around 40 mph around the coast and the NWS in
Mobile issued a Coastal Flood Watch through Friday afternoon. The
weather should quieten down Saturday and Sunday with only a few
showers and thunderstorms.

SUBJECT OF THE DAY—HURRICANE IKE: He is a big one and he was growing
stronger this afternoon already up to a Category 2. The projected
landfall area is still along the Middle Texas coast early in the
weekend, but the cone of concern is much larger than that. It is
advisable that everyone along the Texas coast should keep alert as
well as the Louisiana coast.
He is becoming so large that he is churning the waters through much of
the Gulf and 12-foot waves were reported this morning as far out as
240 miles NE and NW of the center.

When Ike makes landfall, his sustained winds could be as high as 125
mph with gusts close to 150. If that holds up, it will be of
disastrous proportions. Ike is going to be a big rain producer also
and as much as 8 to 10 inches may be dumped out from near landfall, up
through North/Central Texas, up through Oklahoma and even into
Missouri. That within itself will cause major problems in the form of
flash flooding. According to press reports, Hurricane Ike wrecked
140,000 homes in Cuba. It may be a long time before we know the full
extent.

GLOBAL ROAMING: Sure nice to see some chilly air pushing down over
the North/Central USA. It was 30 this morning in Vanderbilt and
Atlanta, Michigan and 32 in Tomahawk and Land O Lakes, Wisconsin. The
coldest of all was 28 in Bryce Canyon, Utah and Arctic Village,
Alaska.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: We rearranged the living area about a
week ago and the couch now sits across the center of the room. Molly
immediately claimed the back of the couch as her lookout tower. She
can see out all of the back windows and turn her head and see out the
front door. Only thing, if she sees an intruder out the front door,
friend or foe, she leaps off the back of the couch all the way to the
floor. I am afraid for her to jump that far, but there is no stopping
her. Life goes on.

...Moist Air Remains Over Alabama...

MUGGY SEPTEMBER DAYS: A very moist airmass will remain parked over
Alabama through tomorrow; we do note that the coolest air of
meteorological fall is over the Midwest, but the leading edge of that
air has stalled out over Tennessee, and it most likely will dissipate
to the north, leaving Alabama in the muggy tropical air. We will
continue to mention scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms
today and tomorrow; the best chance of them will come during the
afternoon and evening hours, but you might see one at night or during
the morning. Afternoon highs will be in the mid 80s with only a
limited amount of sunshine today and tomorrow.

FRIDAY AND THE WEEKEND: Showers should become fewer in number on
Friday, and then quite scarce over the weekend. Accordingly, afternoon
temperatures will be warmer, and we expect a high close to 90 on
Saturday and Sunday with a partly sunny sky.

EYES ON IKE: Ike is now over the open water of the southern Gulf of
Mexico, and is forecast to grow quickly into a major hurricane again
during the next 24 hours as it moves to the west/northwest. The
hurricane will move over the warm Loop Current, and winds aloft are
light and variable, so rapid deepening is possible today. Landfall is
still expected along the Texas coast late Friday night, or perhaps
early Saturday morning (possibly during the pre-dawn hours). As we all
know, Ike has pretty much gone its own way since the storm was born;
defying forecasts from meteorologists and computer models.

The official NHC track has Ike headed for the middle Texas coast,
somewhere between Corpus Christi and Matagorda Bay, but needless to
say this could change. At some point, the ridge north of Ike will
weaken, and the hurricane will take a more northerly component of
motion. Where this happens remains to be seen, but the following NHC
track that turn will happen around I-35 near Austin, with the remnant
circulation moving up toward Dallas/Fort Worth and Oklahoma City over
the weekend.

It is likely that Ike will be a very dangerous hurricane at the time
of landfall, and all interests along the Texas coast from the Sabine
Pass south to Brownsville will need to watch this closely and follow
any forecast changes in coming days.

TWENTY NINE YEARS AGO TODAY: Monday, September 10, 1979 was my very
first day as the main weather anchor at Birmingham's NBC affiliate,
WAPI-TV, Channel 13 (now WVTM-TV). What a first day; a hurricane was
blowing up in the Gulf of Mexico; as it turns out the station would
send me to the Alabama Gulf Coast to cover the arrival of the big
storm, Hurricane Frederic. We left at daybreak on Wednesday, September
12, getting there in time for live phone reports back to Birmingham
during the landfall of the category three storm, which moved right up
Mobile Bay during the late night hours of September 12 and the pre-
dawn hours of September 13. What a way to begin a career...

...Showers and Thunderstorms...

IKE NO DIRECT THREAT TO ALABAMA: It seems like we have been dealing
with someone named Ike forever and he is still very much intruding
into our weather discussions. Probably the only good news about him is
that we see no direct effect on Alabama weather due to Ike. However,
as he moves westward across the Gulf of Mexico and heads for Central
or South Texas, the broad circulation around him will be pumping
plenty of moist air into Alabama. At the same time, there is a cool
front that really just separates extremely moist air from much drier
air. That front was near Memphis this afternoon. By tomorrow, it
should push down into North Alabama and stall. Bottom line: we will
have about three days when we have a good chance of showers or
thunderstorms. They should thin out in number by Saturday and Sunday.

With all the extra cloud cover, we should not have any more of those
90s like we had yesterday for a while. Instead, our high temperatures
should be 86 to 88 through Friday and edging back up to around 90 over
the weekend.

Yesterday afternoon some scattered thunderstorms dumped some heavy
amounts of rain in a number of communities. Some folks were getting
good doses of rain also this afternoon and that will typical of the
next several days.

ALL ABOUT IKE: He was edging off the west tip of Cuba this afternoon
ready to start a steady journey NW across the heart of the Gulf of
Mexico. Conditions are favorable for him to intensify again,
especially by the time he gets over the Western Gulf where there is
abundant warm water. The high-pressure system across the central part
of the country may be just a bit weaker and by late tomorrow the main
center will be over the NE. For that reason, the cone of concern
extends all the way from Lake Charles, Louisiana down into Northern
Mexico. The most favored landfall seems to be around Corpus Christi,
but again that can change a great deal. We think the chance of a
landfall on the Mississippi/Alabama/NW Florida coast is very remote. A
tornado occurred this morning at Key Largo, Florida. It may have been
an F0 or F1.

AT THE BEACH: A lot of questions abut the weekend at the beach. There
is little danger of a tropical storm or hurricane, but surely the
water will be rough. Showers and thunderstorms will be prominent
through Friday, but thinning out over the weekend.

GLOBAL ROAMING: We like to keep folks posted on Iraqi weather since
so many brave soldiers are there and their families are concerned. In
Baghdad, high temperatures for the next 5 days should be between 104
and 109…101 below zero at Vostok, Antarctica…27 this morning at Pine
River, Minnesota and Anaktuvuk Pass, Alaska. The high in Anchorage was
only 59…hottest yesterday 117 in Death Valley.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Little Miss Molly has got rabbits on her
mind. She took me on a wild chase at midnight a few nights ago. This
morning it was barely daybreak when we went for a walk and immediately
out the back door she picked up their scent. It was zip, zap, zip. She
even went to the bathroom going full speed ahead with her nose only ¼
inch from the grass tracking the rabbits. They had been there earlier,
because you could see all their tracks in the dew-covered grass. One
had even gone over and apparently nibbled on my neighbor's flowers, so
Molly had to check that out too. Finally I got her headed north on the
walking track. She met a neighbor who had not seen her in a long time
and they had a long love session. That little girl has got it made.
Now, I must be prepared to almost get jerked off my feet as soon as we
go out. Life goes on.

...Ike Stays far to the South...

IKE AIMED AT TEXAS FOR NOW: Hurricane Ike has certainly had a mind of
his own over the last week; this tropical cyclone has ignored
meteorologists, the National Hurricane Center, and computer models,
remaining on a track well south of that forecast last week. The
southern track has resulted in Cuba being slammed again by a
hurricane, and little impact on Florida.
Ike will come off the western tip of Cuba late today or tonight as a
weakened system due to the interaction with land, but more
strengthening is likely over the warm Gulf of Mexico, where winds
aloft are light and variable. The latest forecast track from the
National Hurricane Center puts the system into the Texas coast near
Matagorda Bay Saturday; it will most likely be a category two or three
hurricane at the time of landfall. While it is still possible that Ike
could jog northward and impact the Southwest Louisiana coast, it looks
more and more like this one is headed for Texas. On this track, there
will be no impact on the Alabama Gulf Coast other than rough surf and
tip tides. You can bet folks in New Orleans are also breathing much
easier.

THE ALABAMA WEATHER STORY: A rather moist airmass will be in place
across our state today, and that combined with an approaching front
will bring another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms,
mainly this afternoon and early tonight. Alabama will remain in a
broad east to southeast wind flow regime through Friday, and each day
we will mention scattered showers and storms, perhaps numerous at
times on Thursday and Friday. Afternoon highs will be mostly in the 86
to 89 degree range.

WEEKEND PREVIEW: Showers could thin out Saturday and Sunday as we get
into the sinking air on the periphery of Ike's circulation; we will
just mention widely scattered showers and storms over the weekend,
with a partly sunny sky and a high around 90.
After Ike moves into the Texas coast this weekend, it should turn
northward, and then to the northeast as it gets hung up in the
stronger westerly winds aloft over the continental U.S. This means
Alabama could see an enhanced chance of rain by early next week, but
with Ike so far away from landfall that could change in coming days.

MONDAY'S STORMS: Thunderstorms developed over East Alabama yesterday
afternoon producing gusty winds and lots of lightning. Our SKYCAM site
on Lookout Mountain overlooking the city of Gadsden measured a peak
wind gust of 46 mph. Not far from our SKYCAM site, one person was
injured by a lightning strike on Tabor Road near Noccalula Falls.
Several trees were blown down across St. Clair county; trees were
reported down in Pell City, Cook Springs, Springville, Odenville, and
interstate 59 at mile marker 154. Winds were estimated around 45 mph.
The temperature at our Gadsden SKYCAM site cooled from 90 to 69
degrees in only about 15 minutes. Most of West Alabama was rain free,
however.
