TEMPERATURES WELL ABOVE NORMAL: It is going to be that way for an extended
period of time. In fact, we do not expect daytime temperatures to retract to
where they should be until late next week at the earliest. Instead, look
for highs consistently in the upper 70s. Some places in Alabama will warm to
the 80-degree mark during this time. At one time before daybreak, it was 55
in Birmingham and 39 in Gadsden, the beginning of a warm up.

WHERE, OH, WHERE IS THE RAIN? That is the question we hear more often now
and I wish we had a god answer. While southerly winds will be bringing
moisture into the state, the trigger to set off a lot of showers and
thunderstorms will remain mostly to our north. The Storm Prediction Center
outlines a slight risk of severe thunderstorms Saturday and Saturday night
from SE Missouri and North Arkansas NE across parts of Illinois, Indiana,
Ohio, South Michigan, and West Kentucky. These strong storms should remain
well to the north of Alabama. So the bottom line is that we could see an
isolated shower Saturday afternoon and some widely separated ones on Sunday.

TROPICAL WEATHER: There are clouds and some thunderstorms over the SW
Caribbean. Any chance of tropical development will be slow.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Dry pleasant weather for high school games tonight with
about 72 at kick off and falling through the 60s. Saturday college football
includes Alabama/Mississippi Sate at Starkville. There will a slight chance
of a shower or thunderstorm during the game which starts at 2:30 with
temperatures near 80. Auburn travels north to meet Kentucky in Lexington
starting at 12:00 noon. Game time temperatures will be between 70 and 75 and
there is a chance of a shower or thunderstorm.

FINAL FRIDAY NOTES: Very cold for so early in the season in Alaska with 32
below zero at Bettles and 27 below at Chandalar Lake. Up in NW Canada it was
33 below at Eureka. The jet stream is way north which is keeping that
bottled up for the time being...extremes for the lower 48 inckuded 93
Thursday in Childress, Texas and 19 this morning at Big Piney, Wyoming.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Just before Molly and I took our much beloved
first walk of the morning, I looked out and Jo Jo was running down the
walking track like a miniature white stallion. He is so cute and brilliant
white. No wonder Little Miss Molly is deeply in love with him. Sure glad she
did not see him because she would have created a huge ruckus. Such a
pleasant walk except the grassy area crunches with dryness. I feel sorry for
the Old Crow Motel. The leaves, not that healthy, have turned brown and
shriveled. Don't believe it will be around many more years but zillions of
birds have paused there to rest and chat...on my very first ever walk with
Molly three years ago, two old crows were perched there and they were having
a family fight of the first order. So, we immediately named it the Old Crow
Motel...other than chasing one mocking bird, Molly's blood pressure did not
soar this morning. I was glad to have a peaceful walk because I was
coffeeless. Life goes on with lots and lots of excitement.

...Blue Sky and Sunshine...

Dry weather continues to headline our forecast package through tomorrow with
a warming trend. We expect highs in the mid 70s today, and upper 70s
tomorrow, well above the normal high of 69 degrees for this part of
November.

THE WEEKEND: Our chance of beneficial rain continues to fade in the 4 to 7
day time frame. A fairly potent weather system will pass across the Great
Lakes on Sunday, but most of the dynamics will remain well to the north of
Alabama. We will mention only widely scattered showers Sunday, with the best
chance of rain over the Tennessee Valley of extreme north Alabama. Once
again, rain down this way should be light and spotty if we see rain at all.
The longer range computer models suggest temperatures in Alabama will remain
mostly above normal for the first half of November, with most of the big
rain and thunderstorm producing systems remaining to the north. We do need
rain; Birmingham's rain deficit for the year is now over four inches. Up in
Huntsville, the rain deficit for the year is well over 14 inches.

TROPICS: The Atlantic basin remains quiet, and tropical storm formation is
not expected for the next three days or so. The wild hurricane season of
2005 will wrap up at the end of this month. There have been a record 23
named storms this season, and if a late season tropical storm forms the name
will be "Gamma".

ROAMING: Hottest place in the nation yesterday was Casa Grande, AZ with 93
degrees. In contrast, Fairbanks, AK dropped to 10 degrees below zero early
yesterday morning. There was not a single lightning stoke around the entire
nation yesterday on the national lightning network as very quiet weather
continues.
