...Gray and Gloomy...

The skies across Central Alabama are mostly gray on this December Sunday. The rain has ended for the most part except over Southeast Alabama. Skies will remain mostly cloudy this afternoon with highs around 60 degrees.

HEAVY RAINS OVER SOUTH ALABAMA OVERNIGHT: We did not receive as much rain as we expected yesterday and last night. A big reason for that was that a large shield of heavy rain to the south took up all of our moisture. It produced some impressive rains across South Alabama. In fact Doppler radar estimates indicate that possibly as much as 7-8 inches of rain fell over night from Wilcox down to Escambia County east northeastward to Russell and Barbour Counties. Even heavier amounts fell across Barbour County, where a flash flood warning was still in effect at mid-morning. Alston Keith recorded 4.65 inches at his hunting camp in Industry, Alabama, which is east of Georgiana in Butler County. He reports some minor flooding.

STORMS MONDAY/TUESDAY: An upper level disturbance in the southwesterly upper flow will be our next weather maker. It will spread rain back up into the state Monday. In Central Alabama, we could see during the day, but the main rain and storms will occur Monday night. It could be another heavy rain event for South Central Alabama. In the I-20 corridor, we expect around 1.25 inches of rain, with lesser amounts to the north and greater amounts to the south (as much as 2-3 inches or more). A developing low along the Gulf Coast will spread more rain across mainly South Alabama Tuesday night. Central Alabama may see a few showers.

REST OF THE WEEK: All of the rain should be gone by Wednesday morning with overnight lows in the lower 30s. Colder and dry conditions will prevail through the end of the week. Expect a few clouds Saturday as a reinforcing shot of cold air arrives.

METEOR SHOWER TONIGHT: The Geminid meteor shower will be at its peak tonight at 11 p.m. CST. The Geminids are generally reliable. You could expect to see 100 meteors per hour, if the clouds cooperate, that is. Skies are expected to be partly cloudy at best, so shooting star
watching may not be optimal. Look just north of east. The meteors will appear to be omcing from the constellation Gemini.

It snowed in the city of Guadalajara for the first time since 1881, leaving amazed residents to gawk at the white stuff and make snowmen. Temperatures plunged to 5 degrees in Chihuahua. Broadway-Style Christmas Musical for the Entire Family

The Church at Ross Station would like to invite you to our
Broadway-style Christmas musical, "Hey Mister, Where's

The musical will be presented on Saturday and Sunday,
