...Dry Through The Weekend...

BLUE SKY AND SUNSHINE: Dry air covers all of Alabama this morning, and
it will set the stage for excellent autumn weather today. With maximum
available sunshine, we expect to be in the mid 60s this afternoon with
a rather gusty north wind, coming around the back side of a strong
storm system over the Atlantic coast, formerly known as Tropical Storm
Ida. Tomorrow will be another sunny day with a high in the low 70s
along with a good supply of sunshine.

THE WEEKEND: This weekend's weather will be very similar to what we
enjoyed this past Saturday and Sunday. Mostly sunny mild days with
highs up in the mid 70s, and clear cool nights, with early morning
lows in the 40s.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: Perfect weather for high school playoff games
tomorrow night; a clear sky with temperatures around 60 at kickoff,
dropping through the 50s during the games, perhaps reaching the upper
40s by the 4th quarter in some stadiums. Alabama is on the road
Saturday night; they play the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 6:00; the
sky will be clear with a kickoff temperature around 68 degrees,
falling into the upper 50s by the final whistle. Auburn plays at
Georgia Saturday evening in Athens (6:00 p.m. kickoff); the sky will
be clear with 65 degrees at kickoff, and low to mid 50s by the fourth
quarter. UAB is also on the road; they play at Memphis (12:00 noon
kickoff)… no weather problems there with a sunny sky and 68 degrees
at kickoff, rising into the low to mid 70s during the game.

NEXT WEEK: Looks like showers will return to Alabama Monday afternoon,
Monday night, and into Tuesday morning as a rather strong short wave
moves through. A few thunderstorms could be involved, but for now it
looks like instability values won't be sufficient for a major severe
weather problem. Then, drier air returns by Tuesday and Wednesday.

STORM ALERT XTREME THIS SATURDAY: Want to be trained as a storm
spotter? Want to join the ABC 33/40 Skywatcher team? Our annual
training event, Storm Alert Xtreme, is coming up on this Saturday
November 14 at the BJCC during the annual Birmingham International
Auto Show. You will be trained by the best SKYWARN trainer in the
nation, our own Brian Peters (he has trained over 6,000 Alabama storm
spotters over the years). We encourage all of our Skywatchers to
attend this every year; you simply cannot get enough training. We will
begin at 9:30, and be out by 3:30. And, everyone that attends Storm
Alert Xtreme gets free admission to the Alabama International Auto
Show. There is no admission charge, and no need to register. Just show
up, but get there early for a good seat. We had a packed house last
year.
