...More Storms Ahead...

It's my pleasure to sit in for J.B. on this Wednesday afternoon. It
is a beautiful day across Central Alabama, but we are in for some
unsettled weather over the next few days as a powerhouse storm system
out west heads our way. The models have been all over the board with
the weekend system, so our confidence in timing is low. Armed with
the morning model data, let's take a look…

TRANISITION AHEAD: Tonight will feature partly cloudy and seasonally
cool conditions. As we head into Thursday and Thursday night, clouds
will be on the increase and a few showers and storms will develop as a
warm front lifts to the north. You will feel the humidity again by
Thursday night as dewpoints rise into the middle 60s again on the back
of an increasing southeasterly wind.

STORMS BUILD FRIDAY: Friday will be breezy, humid and warm with a
few showers and storms around. To the west, we will be watching the
battle zone between a deep trough to the west and a stubborn upper
high to our southeast. Strong storms will be ongoing ahead of a cold
front over the ArkLaMiss region. Our best opinion right now is that
thunderstorms will start forming over western sections Friday
afternoon and remain mainly over West Alabama Friday evening. High
school games over the western half of the area will likely be wet,
with a chance that eastern ones will as well.

SATURDAY AND BEYOND: The models continue to trend later and later
with the main line of storms, which may not arrive until Saturday
evening. Based on this model run, the rain would be gone by Sunday
morning for the most part. Not good news for trick or treaters, but
better news for Magic City Classic attendees and race fans. For now,
we expect 0.5-1.5 inches of rain through Sunday. Stay tuned for tweaks
and changes to this forecast right on up to the weekend however and be
prepared for anything. The best chance for severe weather would be
if the system arrives Friday evening. Severe chances will go down
with time as the main dynamics exit well to the north of Alabama. It
looks like we could enjoy a fine ten day run of weather starting
Sunday. Watch for a hurricane to come out of the Caribbean,
threatening South Florida around the 11th. It will be interesting to
watch.

WEATHERBRAINS: It was a fun show Monday night with the cast of the
innovative PBS show A.M. Weather, that aired from 1978-1995. J.B.
says it is one of our top five shows. I agree. Go to www.WeatherBrains.com
or subscribe on iTunes. This coming Monday night will feature a
special visit from Dr. Chuck Doswell, a legendary severe weather
researcher. Follow us on Twitter @weatherbrains.

ON THIS DATE IN 1999: A newlywed bride was swept to her death as she
and her fiancée took photographs of tremendous waves from a ferocious
Pacific storm at Pacific Grove CA. The storm generated waves up to 27
feet high. The powerful storm swirled offshore for a day before
moving inland, pounding Washington, Oregon and California with the
tremendous waves.
