FANTASTIC MIDDLE EASTERN FOOD FESTIVAL!

Saint George Melkite Catholic Church, 425 16th Avenue South,

there Friday night from 6-8 PM.
Lunch will be served Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 10:30 AM to
2:00 PM; dinner from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Delivery available during
Thursday and Friday lunch with a $75 minimum for downtown and limited
areas.
A drive thru service will operate from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM
to 7:00 PM.

Tours of the beautiful Byzantine church will be conducted. Vendors
will feature unique rosaries, Middle Eastern spices, Byzantine books
and icons,and etched Paschal Eggs.

...Closing In On An Average Annual Rainfall...

We are quickly closing in on reaching our average annual rainfall at
the Birmingham Airport. The annual average is 53.99 inches. Sunday
morning, the rainfall total stood at 52.35 inches. By 9 p.m., 1.12
inches had fallen, pushing the total to 53.47 inches. With another
one quarter of an inch of rain expected overnight, we will almost
certainly be less than one half inch short of measuring a year's worth
of rainfall in just over nine months. We have come a long way from
the drought of two years ago.

FOR YOUR MONDAY: The rain should be gone early this morning,
although there could be a few showers during the day. We could see a
little sunshine by afternoon, but don't count on it. With a cool
easterly flow, temperatures today will be limited to the 60s. Clouds
will thin out overnight tonight, with lows dropping into the upper 50s.

MORE WET WEATHER AHEAD: We will see some sunshine Tuesday, along
with a spike in humidity. With partial sunshine, temperatures will
warm into the upper 70s. We could see a few showers and storms
develop during the day. They will increase during the afternoon and
into the overnight as a cold front approaches from the northwest.
Rain should be gone by lunch on Wednesday.

MIDWEEK AND BEYOND: Thursday looks warm and muggy with a slight
chance of a shower or storm. Clouds will increase on Friday ahead of
another
cold front. Showers and storms will become likely Friday night into
Saturday. The front will pass through Saturday, setting the stage for
a really nice week of autumnal weather.

TROPICS: Tropical Storm Grace formed over the far northeastern
Atlantic last night. It is small and won't last long. A tropical wave
1,000 miles east of the Lesser Antilles is accompanied by disorganized
shower activity. Some slow organization is possible as this system
moves west northwest over the next couple of days. This system may
eventually reach the Bahamas by the weekend, but the models don't show
any tropical cyclone formation for the next seven days.

ON THIS DATE IN 2000: More torrid heat across the southern Plains.
The mercury reached 115 degrees at Del Rio TX, 112 at Austin, 111 at
San Antonio and 109 in Corpus Christi on the Texas coast. The
temperature at Galveston TX hit 104 degrees to establish their all-
time high. The heat at Galveston was unprecedented because the
mercury had only reached 100 degrees only once in history before this
week when two 100 degree marks were recorded. The beautiful Texas
coastal city is usually cooled by breeze from the Gulf of Mexico.
