...Summer-Like Weather Continues...

LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT WEEK: We finally have a break in this muggy,
wet pattern next week, but before we get there will have more rain to
deal with at times. Today will be similar to yesterday; the best
chance of showers and storms will be over the western side of the
state, but we can't rule out a few scattered showers over East Alabama
as well. There will be intervals of sunshine, and temperatures will
rise into the mid 80s this afternoon. Pretty much the same story
tomorrow; mixed sun and clouds with a risk of scattered showers and
thunderstorms, mostly during the afternoon and evening hours.

STORMY SATURDAY: The upper low that has been parked over the nation's
heartland for the past few days will open up into a trough and pass
just north of Alabama, and this should bring a marked increase in the
number of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday. While it won't rain
all day, a few strong storms are very possible with heavy rain, and
some localized flood problems could develop. The chance of showers and
storms will extend into Saturday night. Then, on Sunday, drier air
begins to move into North Alabama. We will hang on to some risk of a
stray shower, mainly Sunday morning, but the sky should become partly
sunny.

Another front will pass through on Monday, perhaps kicking off a
shower or two in scattered spots, followed by a nice surge of cooler
and drier air that should mean rain-free weather for Alabama Tuesday
through Friday of next week. Highs will drop into the 70s on Tuesday,
with lows down in the 50s by early Wednesday and Thursday morning.
Some of the normally cooler valleys across North Alabama could even
reach the upper 40s. This will be a very refreshing change for a
waterlogged state.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: The chance of any one high school football stadium
getting wet tonight and tomorrow night is about one in three, with the
best chance coming over the western half of the state. We recommend
taking rain gear just in case. Temperatures will be in the upper 70s
at kickoff. Saturday, Alabama will host Arkansas at 2:30 p.m. at
Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa. Showers and storms are likely
during the game with a kickoff temperature near 80 degrees. Then,
Saturday evening Auburn will host Ball State at Jordan-Hare Stadium at
6:00 p.m. Rain is likely at times during the game with a kickoff
temperature in the mid to upper 70s. And, UAB is at Texas A&M Saturday
night for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff; the weather at College Station will be
mostly cloudy with only a slight risk of a shower during the game. The
temperature should be in the low 80s at kickoff.

YESTERDAY'S RAIN: While the Birmingham metro escaped the rain much of
the day, tropical downpours prompted flash flood warnings for a number
of counties in the Tennessee Valley yesterday morning, and Lamar
County in Northwest Alabama was placed under a flash flood warning for
a while last night.

Our Hope In Difficult Times

We all struggle. A family in turmoil, job loss, health issues, a mess we
helped create. We live in difficult times.

Facing tough times is different with Jesus Christ than without Him.
Does that sound too "churchy?" Too easy? Don't be dismayed or misled.

Our Hope In Difficult Times is the current sermon series at Hunter
Street Baptist Church. There is hope. You don't have to struggle alone.

Join us this Sunday at Hunter Street, 2600 John Hawkins Parkway in
Hoover. Visit http://www.hunterstreet.org or call 205.985.7295.
