ALABAMA ONE CALL
KNOW WHAT'S BELOW
CALL 811 BEFORE YOU DIG

Whether planning to do it yourself or hire a professional excavator,
smart digging means calling 811 before each job to find out where
it's safe to dig.

Every digging project requires a call to Alabama One Call--even
small projects like building a fence, planting shrubs and trees or
installing a mailbox.

One free easy call to 811 or 205-252-4444 at least 48 hours
prior to digging:

* Gets utility owned lines marked for free!
* Complies with Alabama Act 94-487.
* Helps prevent undesired consequences and possible service
disruptions to your neighborhood.

...Wet at Times Through Sunday...

A SOGGY AIRMASS: Moist air will hang over Alabama through the weekend,
with the chance of showers and storms continuing on a daily basis. The
showers today should be scattered, and most likely during the
afternoon and evening hours. If you like the numbers game, the chance
of any one spot getting wet is about one in four, and most of the
showers will come from about 2:00 until 9:00 p.m. Temperatures will
remain warm with a high in the mid 80s.

TOMORROW AND SUNDAY: Look for showers and storms to show an increase
in coverage over the weekend as a surface front approaches Alabama
from the north. At this point the chance of a big severe weather
problem looks unlikely with limited instability and dynamics. But,
some pretty decent rain amounts are likely; most places should see
between one and two inches of rain between today and Sunday night. It
won't rain all weekend long, but the showers and storms could some at
any time. The high tomorrow will be close to 80, but Sunday should be
considerably cooler with clouds and rain; some places might have a
hard time getting out of the 60s.

DRIER AIR ARRIVES EARLY NEXT WEEK: A continental airmass moves into
Alabama Sunday night, and that should push temperatures down into the
upper 40s by daybreak Monday. Our weather looks dry and pleasant
Monday and Tuesday with lower humidity levels, something we won't talk
about very much from June through August. A deep easterly flow is
forecast to develop over Alabama Wednesday, and Atlantic moisture is
expected to invade the state Wednesday night, and showers will be
possible again by Thursday.

AT THE BEACH: Expect about 4 to 6 hours of sunshine daily along the
Gulf Coast between Panama City and Gulf Shores today, tomorrow and
Sunday, with the chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms each
day. The sea water temperature at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab last
night was 81 degrees. We note some of the global computer models show
a broad area of low pressure in the Gulf next week; with water
temperatures now in excess of 80 degrees (F) will have to keep an eye
on developments down there.

ON THIS DATE IN 1896: Sherman, Texas tornado killed 73, 60 of them in
the town. The tornado probably rated as an EF5 from the intensity of
the damage, Bodies of tornado victims were found as far as 400 yards
away from their original location. A trunk lid was carried 35 miles by
the twister.
