...Spring-Like Weather Ahead...

TRENDING WARMER: Birmingham's high yesterday was 60 degrees, and today
we should be 7 to 10 degrees warmer, with most communities seeing a
high in the upper 60s. Like recent days, we might have a few periods
of high clouds, but the sky should be generally sunny with dry air
remaining in the low levels. The warming trend continues tomorrow,
with an afternoon high in the mid 70s.

THE WEEKEND: Very nice weather continues on Saturday with a mostly
sunny sky and a high between 75 and 79 degrees. Some West Alabama
communities will flirt with the 80 degree mark on Saturday. The mild
weather continues on Sunday with a high in the 70s. A few isolated
showers could show up on radar Sunday afternoon, but the best chance
of them will be over Northwest Alabama, and even there most places
will stay dry.

NEXT WEEK: A moist airmass will cover Alabama during the first half of
the week. A few isolated showers are possible Monday and Tuesday, but
the best forcing for rain on those days will stay to the northwest. At
this time it looks like our best chance of showers and storms will
come at mid-week on Wednesday thanks to a strong upper trough
supporting a cold front. Looks like a few strong thunderstorms could
be involved based on the projected instability profile. Then, colder
air returns to Alabama by Thursday and Friday.

DID YOU KNOW? Each year, more deaths occur due to flooding than from
any other severe weather related hazard. The main reason is people
underestimate the force and power of water. More than half of all
flood related deaths result from vehicles being swept downstream. Of
these, many are preventable. Most of the major flood events in Alabama
come during the spring months. March and April are our wettest months
of the year.

SPOTLIGHT: GAGE, OKLAHOMA: Hottest spot in the nation yesterday was
Gage, Oklahoma with a high of 92. Ever been to Gage? As of the census
of 2000, there were 429 people, 197 households, and 121 families
residing in the Oklahoma community.
