956 PM CST TUE FEB 3 2009
...WIND CHILL ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 AM CST WEDNESDAY...
VERY COLD AIR...ALONG WITH BLUSTERY NORTHWEST WINDS OF 10 TO 20
MPH WITH A FEW HIGHER GUSTS...WILL PRODUCE LOW WIND CHILL
TEMPERATURES ACROSS PORTIONS OF NORTHEASTERN ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN
MIDDLE TENNESSEE TONIGHT. WINDWARD FACING SLOPES ALONG THE HIGHER
TERRAIN...AND OPEN VALLEY AREAS EXPOSED TO THE WIND WILL BE
PARTICULARLY SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE LOW WIND CHILLS. AS TEMPERATURES
GRADUALLY FALL INTO THE LOW TO MID TEENS....THE COMBINATION OF
STRONG WINDS AND THE RELATIVELY COLD TEMPERATURES WILL PRODUCE
WIND CHILL VALUES AROUND ZERO TO 10 BELOW ZERO AT TIMES TONIGHT.
A WIND CHILL ADVISORY MEANS THAT VERY COLD AIR AND STRONG WINDS
WILL COMBINE TO GENERATE LOW WIND CHILLS. THIS WILL RESULT IN
FROST BITE AND LEAD TO HYPOTHERMIA IF PRECAUTIONS ARE NOT TAKEN.
IF YOU MUST VENTURE OUTDOORS...MAKE SURE YOU WEAR A HAT AND
GLOVES. ALSO...REMEMBER TO PROVIDE ADEQUATE SHELTER FOR OUTDOOR
PETS.
