NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK
1140 AM EST SAT FEB 28 2009

THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

PARTS OF SOUTHEAST ALABAMA
PARTS OF FLORIDA PANHANDLE
LARGE PART OF SOUTHERN AND CENTRAL GEORGIA

EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY MORNING AND EVENING FROM 1140 AM UNTIL
700 PM EST.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 55 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 10 MILES NORTHWEST OF
CRESTVIEW FLORIDA TO 60 MILES EAST NORTHEAST OF VIDALIA GEORGIA.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR

AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...LINE OF THUNDERSTORMS WITH EMBEDDED SUPERCELLS FROM
CENTRAL GA SWWD WRN FL PANHANDLE WILL SLOWLY DEVELOP EWD THRU THE
AFTERNOON. AIR MASS IN ADVANCE OF LINE IS DESTABILIZING AND
BECOMING SUPPORTIVE OF MORE DISCRETE STORM FORMATION AS MLCAPES
CLIMB TO 1000 J/KG. STRONG SHEAR PROFILES WILL CONTINUED THREAT OF
DAMAGING WINDS AND AT LEAST ISOLATED TORNADOES...PARTICULARLY WITH
ANY SUPERCELL DEVELOPMENT.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 2 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
