...Not the Best Valentine Weather...

NO BITTER COLD IN SIGHT: This may not be the most pleasant day to
spend with your valentine, because part of today will be wet. We do
not foresee any severe weather, probably just some intermittent rain
that will end by this afternoon. However, clouds will move back in
later tonight leading to a slight chance of rain again Sunday morning.
Finally, a cold front will get rid of most of the clouds later Sunday
leaving us will almost all sunshine on Monday. Toward midweek, we
should have some more showers about Wednesday. We still do not look for
any onslaught of bitter cold arctic air from the great North Country,
Alaska and NW Canada.

There is some cold air up there, but conditions are not favorable to
ship it all the way to the Deep South in the near future. For the next
several days, our lowest temperature here in Central Alabama should be
near or slightly below freezing Tuesday morning. See our day-by-day
forecast for all of the details. Rain gradually spread into South
Alabama yesterday afternoon and by nightfall most of the state was
getting wet. The amounts were quite light over the north half of the
state. At one point early Friday afternoon, a Severe Thunderstorm
Warning was posted for parts of Mobile and Baldwin Counties, so they
also received some of the heaviest rain. About ½ inch fell at Mobile
Regional Airport and 0.66 in downtown Mobile at Brookley Field. Dothan
was one of the warmest spots in the state Friday afternoon with 75.

GLOBAL ROAMING: The Rio Grande Valley of South Texas has been almost
like summer lately. The old thermometer climbed to 93 at Edinburg,
Texas Friday afternoon. That temperature is about 2 degrees hotter
than the average for mid-summer in Central Alabama.

The coldest in Alaska Friday was 35 below zero at Barrow on the north
shore. That seems mild compared to some bitter temperatures of 60
below zero or worse several weeks ago.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: I sure did get a kick out of an e-mail I
received from a gentleman after surmising a few days ago that Molly
may be halfway through her life. He suggested that I have Molly cloned
and to get the money he suggested setting up a Clone Molly Fund,
especially since it costs well over $100,000. I would love to have
another Little Miss Molly, but that is not the same as the original.
Life goes on and I hope for many years.
