...More Changeable Weather...
FRESH SUPPLY OF COLD AIR SUNDAY: Alabama weather is on the move,
which is not unusual at all during late winter when we head toward
spring. Springtime in Alabama seems to feature the most energetic
weather systems of all.
Therefore, this weekend we will have more changes. It will not be as
cold tonight as it was early today when most sections of the state
were below freezing. But across Central Alabama we do expect upper 20s
tonight. Some of the normally NE Alabama colder spots could easily
have 22. Changes start Saturday as some clouds move in from the SW and
west later in the day. We look for intermittent rain Saturday night.
It could start before dark. The rain should linger past midnight, but
mostly gone by daybreak Sunday. We think most of the rain will be out
of here before it gets cold enough for snow flurries. We cannot rule
out a few just before daybreak Sunday, but we believe the chance is so
slim that we left them out of the forecast. The rest of Sunday will be
mostly sunshine. Monday and Tuesday will also be dry and sunny.
Here is a short list of some of the colder temperatures this morning:
16 Remlap
18 Vernon, Russellville, Scrougout, Hanceville, Broomtown
19 McCalla, North Fork, Cullman, Moulton, Pinson
20 Marion, Crossville, Scottsboro
22 Roebuck, Coker
ELSEWHERE IN THE WORLD: There is still a heavy snow pack over the
Upper Midwest. That is where our coldest temperatures came from this
morning with 25 below zero at Kadetogama, Minnesota where there is 27
inches of snow on the ground. Chicago is expecting 6 to 8 inches of
additional snow in the next 24 hours. The coldest in the Great Smoky
Mountain National Park this morning was 3 below where there was 2
inches of snow on the ground. In Alaska, the coldest this morning was
23 below at Kivalina. The real bitter cold is temporarily absent from
Alaska. There are many parts of the world where fresh drinkable water
is becoming exceedingly scarce. The Middle East is generally dry. In
Iraq, however, an aquifer is highly productive over the NE and the
eastern third of that country and most of the rest of Iraq has a
moderately productive aquifer.
MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Little Miss Molly has been scooting
around looking for hiding places today because of carpet cleaners and
the whirring machines. That little rascal only let me get two sips of
coffee this morning before she ordered me out of the house for a half-
mile walk. Even though she can choose inopportune times to make me go
outside, I always enjoy it. It was before sunrise and the atmosphere
was so clear that the Old Crow Motel stood out like a sharply defined
skeleton. Life goes on even though not compatible with my timetable at
times.
