...Entering Exciting Territory...

STORM ALERT 2009: First, we mention the first instalment of Storm
Alert 2009. It is tonight at 7:00 p.m. at Greene County High School in
Eutaw. This is the first visit to Greene County. I am hoping that a
lot of my friends and relatives from my native Hale County will drive
over to Eutaw to see a very interesting program. The doors open at
5:00, so come early for a good seat. The program is over at 8:15.

NOW WE MENTION THE SNOW WORD: I wish it were possible for me to have
supernatural powers so that I could give every corner of Alabama a 2-
inch snow five times each winter and then let it melt within 24 hours.
That way we could satisfy a lot of people and still not paralyze the
state. One of these days some professor may want to study the snow
mania in Alabama. I have not even heard the Super Bowl mentioned all
week.

Right off I must mention that it is impossible to forecast amounts of
snow since it is nearly four days away. We will try to be a little
more specific in the morning edition tomorrow morning and especially
later in the day on Friday and also on Saturday. If we get snow, we do
not think it will arrive until some point Monday. The low-pressure
area projected to develop over the North Gulf of Mexico has not even
thought about doing so yet. Some of the models project that low to
move NE between Tallahassee and Ft. Walton then across South Georgia
and South Carolina and up the east coast. The chance of snow in
Alabama is a precarious balancing act to how much cold air will be
available before the significant moisture is pulled away from the
state. At this time, we will mention a cold rain on Monday, probably
changing to snow in the afternoon and at night—roughly over the NW
half of the state.

Meanwhile, we will discuss the weekend. We look for lows just below
freezing tonight. Saturday should feature mostly sunshine with low to
mid 20s at daybreak, but a more reasonable 54 in the afternoon. Sunday
should also be dry, but clouds will increase at night.

GLOBAL ROAMING: There are news reports today that the total damage
from Hurricane Ike last year has been raised to $18 billion. It
remains to be seen the total dollar damage from the big ice storm just
winding down, but it will be tremendous. News reports indicate about
25 people were killed during the ice and snow, including those from
traffic accidents. Coldest in the lower 48 this morning was 9 below at
Stanley, Idaho. You would not wish to be in Hooper Bay, Alaska today
with 40 below zero and a wind chill of 76 below.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Little Miss Molly sure has been hanging
close to me the last few days as if she wants to reseal the bond
between us after my recent spanking. I have gone out of my way to talk
to her and love her. She curls up under my desk for long periods of
time. Every time I go to the kitchen for a cup of coffee, I pause long
enough to give her a head rub and belly rub. She loves those. As I
promised yesterday, I will never spank her again. A lot of readers
cheered that decision. Life goes on.

IRON MAN CONFERENCE IS JANUARY 30-31

What does it mean to be a man? Is it how much money you make? The kind
