THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

SOUTHWESTERN ALABAMA
FAR WESTERN FLORIDA PANHANDLE
SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA
SOUTHERN MISSISSIPPI
COASTAL WATERS

EFFECTIVE THIS TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 225 PM UNTIL
1000 PM CDT.

TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1 INCH IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS
TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 80 STATUTE
MILES NORTH AND SOUTH OF A LINE FROM 10 MILES WEST SOUTHWEST OF
BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA TO 55 MILES NORTH OF PENSACOLA FLORIDA.

REMEMBER...A TORNADO WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE FAVORABLE FOR

AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...ANOMALOUS PATTERN TODAY AND TONIGHT AS UNSEASONABLY
STRONG LOW LEVEL FLOW OVERSPREADS A VERY WARM/MOIST BOUNDARY LAYER
ALL READY IN PLACE ACROSS WW. WSWLY LLJ IN EXCESS OF 40 KT IS
FORECAST TO OVERSPREAD THE LOWER MS RIVER VALLEY AND SHIFT INTO SRN
MS/SWRN AL THRU THIS EVENING...BOOSTING LOW LEVEL SHEAR. STRONG
HEATING OVER SERN LA INTO SRN MS SHOULD SUPPORT STEEPENING LOW LEVEL
LAPSE RATES AND RISK OF DAMAGING WINDS...WITH POTENTIAL FOR AN
ISOLATED TORNADO OR TWO INCREASING ASSOCIATED WITH LLJ LATER TODAY
AND THIS EVENING AS LOW LEVEL HODOGRAPHS BECOME QUITE LARGE. VERY
HEAVY RAINFALL WILL ALSO ACCOMPANY THE STRONGER CORES.

AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1 INCH. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE WIND
GUSTS TO 60 KNOTS. A FEW CUMULONIMBI WITH MAXIMUM TOPS TO 500.
