THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN BIRMINGHAM HAS ISSUED A

* SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR...
SOUTHWESTERN LAMAR COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA...
THIS INCLUDES THE CITY OF MILLPORT...
NORTHWESTERN PICKENS COUNTY IN WEST CENTRAL ALABAMA...

* UNTIL 330 PM CDT

* AT 302 PM CDT...THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE INDICATED A SEVERE
THUNDERSTORM CAPABLE OF PRODUCING PENNY SIZE HAIL...AND DAMAGING
WINDS IN EXCESS OF 60 MPH. THIS STORM WAS LOCATED 6 MILES
NORTHWEST OF ETHELSVILLE...OR 8 MILES EAST OF COLUMBUS...AND MOVING
EAST AT 17 MPH.

* THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WILL BE NEAR...
ETHELSVILLE BY 315 PM CDT...
6 MILES SOUTHWEST OF MILLPORT BY 330 PM CDT...

WINDS OF 60 TO 70 MPH WILL BREAK LARGE TREE LIMBS AND CAUSE SOME
DAMAGE...ESPECIALLY TO SMALLER STRUCTURES.

IN ADDITION TO LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS...CONTINUOUS CLOUD TO
GROUND LIGHTNING IS OCCURRING WITH THIS STORM. MOVE INDOORS
IMMEDIATELY! LIGHTNING IS ONE OF NATURES NUMBER ONE KILLERS.
REMEMBER...IF YOU CAN HEAR THUNDER...YOU ARE CLOSE ENOUGH TO BE
STRUCK BY LIGHTNING.
