URGENT - WINTER WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL
722 AM CST SAT JAN 19 2008

...SNOW EXPECTED TODAY FOR A LARGE PORTION OF CENTRAL ALABAMA...

.THE WEATHER PATTERN REMAINS FAVORABLE FOR A SNOW STORM IN THE
DEEP SOUTH...ALTHOUGH AT THIS TIME IT LOOKS LIKE THE SNOW AMOUNTS
WILL NOT BE AS SIGNIFICANT AS PREVIOUSLY EXPECTED. THE SURFACE LOW
PRESSURE SYSTEM TRACKING EASTWARD THROUGH THE NORTHERN GULF THIS
MORNING LOOKS LIKE IT WILL BE A BIT FARTHER SOUTH...WHICH WILL
LIMIT THE NORTHWARD SPREAD OF MOISTURE. STILL...AS COLD ARCTIC
AIR FILTERS SOUTHWARD ACROSS THE AREA...IT IS STILL EXPECTED TO
COMBINE WITH THE LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM AND PRODUCE A BAND OF SNOW
ACROSS CENTRAL ALABAMA THIS MORNING...THEN TAPER OFF THROUGH THE
AFTERNOON.
