THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

NORTHWEST ALABAMA
EASTERN ARKANSAS
NORTHERN MISSISSIPPI
WESTERN AND MIDDLE TENNESSEE

EFFECTIVE THIS WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 235 PM UNTIL
800 PM CST.

HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 100
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES NORTHEAST OF
JACKSON TENNESSEE TO 15 MILES EAST SOUTHEAST OF GREENWOOD

REMEMBER...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH MEANS CONDITIONS ARE
FAVORABLE FOR SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS IN AND CLOSE TO THE WATCH
AREA. PERSONS IN THESE AREAS SHOULD BE ON THE LOOKOUT FOR
THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS. SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CAN AND OCCASIONALLY
DO PRODUCE TORNADOES.

MIDDLE TN. AIR MASS IS BECOMING MARGINAL TO MODERATELY UNSTABLE
ACROSS WW AND BOTH DEEP ASCENT AND SHEAR ARE EXPECTED TO INCREASE
THROUGH THE EVENING. EXPECT THUNDERSTORM COVERAGE AND INTENSITY TO
THEREFORE INCREASE WITH PRIMARY THREATS OF LARGE HAIL AND DAMAGING
WINDS...WITH POTENTIAL FOR SUPERCELLS AND SMALL LINES.
