Everyone gets an extra hour of sleep tonight as Daylight Savings Time
officially comes to an end. Don't forget to set your clocks back an
hour before you retire tonight.

THE ALABAMA WEATHER STORY: The morning dawned clear and cool across
North and Central Alabama on this Saturday. Meridianville was the
state's cool spot, with a morning reading of 34F. Under sunny skies
today, afternoon readings will top out in the lower 70s. Tonight will
be clear and chilly with frost possible in the colder locations.
Tomorrow may be a degree or two cooler than today as cool air
continues to flow in on northerly winds. Things will begin to change
tomorrow night as winds shift around to the southwest ahead of an
approaching trough. This will be our next weather maker, bringing a
chance of showers late Monday night into Tuesday morning. Rainfall
amounts will be light. When the front passes through Tuesday morning,
it will signal a change to much colder, with widespread lows in the
30s Wednesday and Thursday morning, and a freeze is likely in colder
locations. Temperatures on Tuesday will hover in the 50s, with 40s
not of the question during the day.

EXTRATROPICAL STORM NOEL: The low that was Hurricane Noel is racing
north northeast toward Nova Scotia. High winds, coastal flooding and
heavy rains will plague New England through tonight. Wind gusts will
reach hurricane force. OOTBALL WEATHER: Tennessee Tech will be at
Auburn for a 1:30 p.m. kickoff today. Expect sunny skies and low
humidity with temperatures at kickoff in the middle 70s, falling back
into the 60s during the contest. The Bengal Tigers of LSU travel to
Tuscaloosa for a key SEC West matchup at 4 p.m. The weather should be
ideal, with temperatures falling out of the 70s through the 60s under
clear skies. Winds will be light. A 6 p.m. kickoff at Birmingham's
Legion Field as UAB entertains Southern Miss. Game temperatures will
be falling from the 60s into the 50s under a crystal clear sky. The
most interesting weather nationally in this week 10 of college
football with be at Boston College, where extratropical storm Noel
will bring very heavy rain and high winds during the game. Will be a
fun game to watch on ABC3340 tonight.

STORM ALERT XTREME: One week from today, we will all be at the BJCC
for our annual storm spotter training. Brian Peters will present
basic and advanced storm spotting classes. Spotters are critical in
providing ground truth to forecasters in severe weather situations.
Even if you aren't interested in being a formal spotter, you will
learn to read important sky signs that could save you or your family
when severe weather threatens.

ON THIS DATE IN 1991: Snow flurries fell in Brownsville, Texas. It
was the first time snowflakes had fallen in the month of November
since 1976. There were no measurable accumulations in either event in
Brownsville. The last measurable snow in Brownsville was way back in
February 1895 when the local paper reported 5 inches on the ground.
This broke the old record of three inches which had occurred back in
about the 1860s. Brownsville did enjoy a White Christmas in 2004 as
1.5 inches of snow fell during the early morning hours on December 25th.

ON THIS DATE IN 2003: Pinson established a new record high for the
date with a temperature of 87F. Other locations in the Heart of Dixie
tied their record highs that day, including Birmingham (84F), Anniston
(84F), and Montgomery (85F).
