TWO STORMY PERIODS AHEAD: As of today, the rain deficiency for 2007
in Birmingham was approaching 22 inches. We have only received 26
inches this year. Last year on this same date we had received over
twice that much, 53.41 inches. For that reason, I assume we are all
happy to hear that we have two good rain events on the calendar,
including Thanksgiving Day and again on Saturday. This could make
travel haphazard and it could wet down a certain football game
Saturday night.

FIRST THINGS FIRST: Dry weather for tonight and Wednesday morning.
Showers should reach Central Alabama by afternoon. The more numerous
showers and thunderstorms will come Wednesday night and taper off
Thanksgiving morning. The Storm Prediction Center has a large part of
North and Central Alabama under a Slight Risk of severe thunderstorms
Wednesday and Wednesday night here in Central Alabama. The better
chance for that will be Wednesday night. It may be late Wednesday
night, but we will adjust the timing tomorrow morning. Showers and
storms will be ending Thanksgiving morning, as a cold front sweeps
across the state. Most of our weather models that we depend on most
bring the cold front into Central Alabama early Thanksgiving morning.
It will be noticeably colder and temperatures may drop into the upper
40s by afternoon along with NW winds 15 to 25 mph.

Some folks say that Friday after Thanksgiving is the biggest shopping
day of the year. Not for me. I head for the hills. The weather will be
ideal for pounding the pavement in the malls. Mostly sunshine, but
chilly with a high of about 54.

OUR SECOND RAIN EVENT: This one looks good also and it is due to a
great extent to our great friend, the Gulf of Mexico. We can always
depend on that nice lady giving us lots of moisture if other things
fall into place. A warm front will be moving north from the Gulf, so
that should let rain start Saturday morning and become more widespread
later in the day and especially Saturday night. It is going to be a
cold rain with highs only in the 50s. As far as the Alabama/Auburn
game in Auburn Saturday night, it looks like chilly, wet weather at
this time, but this is only Tuesday. Timing can change things and we
can be much more specific Wednesday and Thursday. We also have to face
another potential severe weather threat at some point late in the
weekend.

TRAVEL WEATHER: We do not have the space to go into detail here, but
please check the ABC 33/40 Blog for that:

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: I appreciate the kind condolences
concerning the death of my Rook partner, Frances Slye. I have passed
them along to the family. Little Miss Molly and Frances were as close
as a human and dog could get. It was love at first sight. Do not know
what I am going to get my little 9-pound pal for Christmas. When she
was 1 and 2 years old, she was addicted to toilet paper. She would
occasionally go into the closet, grab a brand new roll and completely
wallpaper the floor of the master bedroom. On a couple of occasions,
due to our carelessness, it looked like a North Dakota blizzard had
hit that room. In later years (now five years old), it is ballgame
after ballgame. Her energy level has not dropped off even 1% since she
since she is grown. She is either going to make me live longer or kill
me off young, but life is enjoyable and life goes on......
