...Dry Through The Weekend...

A FINE FALL WEEKEND: Our gradual warming trend will continue today;
temperatures this afternoon will rise into the mid to upper 60s, which
is close to normal levels for this time of the year. A few high clouds
will float by from time to time due to a disturbance passing north of
Alabama, but the low level air will remain very dry, and there is no
chance of rain. We stay rain-free over the weekend, with partly to
mostly sunny days and clear chilly nights. The high tomorrow and
Sunday will be very close to 70.

FOOTBALL WEATHER: We expect excellent weather for high school and
college games with fair dry weather expected everywhere. For high
school games in Central Alabama tonight, the temperature will fall
into the 50s during the game after a kickoff temperature near 60.
Tomorrow, Alabama will be at Starkville to play Mississippi State at
Scott Field with an early kick off at 11:30...mostly sunny, 66 at kick
off rising to 72 later in the game. Auburn will be in Athens for a key
game with Georgia. It should be 68 and clear for the 2:30 p.m. kick
off, dropping into the 50s during the second half. Central Florida
will be at UAB for a 6:30 start at Legion Field. Temperatures will be
falling into the 60s under a mostly clear sky.

NEXT WEEK: We finally have a decent chance of rain next week; a strong
upper trough will sweep across the Deep South with a healthy round of
showers and storms late Tuesday, Tuesday night, and possibly into a
part of the day Wednesday. For now it looks like an event that should
generate around one-half inch of rain for most communities. Cooler and
drier air sets in for the latter half of the week.

THANKSGIVING WEEK: Computer model runs in recent days have trended
toward a warmer and wetter solution for the week of November 19-23; we
won't be able to resolve specific details until the middle part of
next week.

HODGEPODGE: The coldest spot we could find in Alabama early yesterday
was the community of Muscadine, in Cleburne County (near the Georgia
line), where the low was 21. Coldest place in Alaska was Northway with
six degrees below zero. Birmingham's rain deficit for the year is up
to 20.79". Anniston's deficiency is now 28.45".

STORM ALERT XTREME: We hope to see you tomorrow at the BJCC for our
annual severe storm training session. Once again this year, the
Alabama International
Auto Show is a sponsor of Storm Alert XTREME, and it will be held at
the BJCC. This is your chance to learn more about Alabama weather, and
to be trained as a storm spotter. ABC 33/40 Meteorologist Brian
Peters, long time WCM (Warning Coordination Meteorologist) for the
National Weather Service in Birmingham, will teach a basic and
advanced course on spotting small scale features within thunderstorms
that are very important to meteorologists. And, remember, if you
attend Storm Alert Xtreme, you get free admission into the Alabama
International Auto Show! See the details on the ABC 33/40 Weather Blog.
