THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
TORNADO WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF
NORTHERN AND WESTERN ALABAMA
EASTERN MISSISSIPPI
MIDDLE TENNESSEE
EFFECTIVE THIS THURSDAY NIGHT AND FRIDAY MORNING FROM 1025 PM
UNTIL 500 AM CDT.
TORNADOES...HAIL TO 1.5 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND
GUSTS TO 70 MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE
AREAS.
THE TORNADO WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 60 STATUTE
MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 55 MILES NORTHEAST OF
NASHVILLE TENNESSEE TO 95 MILES SOUTH SOUTHWEST OF COLUMBUS

THREATENING WEATHER CONDITIONS AND LISTEN FOR LATER STATEMENTS
AND POSSIBLE WARNINGS.

DISCUSSION...LINE OF STRONG/SEVERE STORMS EXTENDS FROM WESTERN TN
INTO CENTRAL MS. THESE STORMS ARE LIKELY TO MAINTAIN INTENSITY
THROUGH MUCH OF THE NIGHT AS THEY MOVE THROUGH MOIST AND MODERATELY
UNSTABLE AIR MASS. DAMAGING WINDS APPEAR TO BE THE MAIN THREAT.
HOWEVER...LOW LEVEL VERTICAL SHEAR IS SUFFICIENTLY STRONG TO POSE A
RISK OF ISOLATED TORNADOES.
AVIATION...TORNADOES AND A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL
SURFACE AND ALOFT TO 1.5 INCHES. EXTREME TURBULENCE AND SURFACE
