...Fairly Good Rain Chances Today...

On the weather maps this morning, we find a wave stationary front
along the Alabama-Tennessee border. A surface low is located to the
northeast of Alabama over Northeast Tennessee. Another is to the west
over the Oklahoma Panhandle. As the second low passes to our north by
tomorrow, it will propel the front southward into Alabama, and it will
be followed by an influx of drier air.

MODEL DIFFERENCES: Significant differences in the models mean that we
have to choose sides in the numerical weather prediction department as
we move ahead in the forecast.

TODAY AND TONIGHT: A moist and unstable airmass will be acted upon by
the weak front as its edges into North Alabama. This will provide
enough spark for showers and thunderstorms. Coverage today should be
over fifty percent across the area. Showers and storms will linger
tonight as the front makes its move southward.

MONDAY: We will base the forecast on the front starting out Monday
morning across North Central Alabama. This means that rainfall
chances will be from about Birmingham south.

REST OF THE WEEK: By Tuesday, we expect dry conditions across the
area, and temperatures will be heating up. We will see mid to upper
90s by Wednesday and Thursday. We should see a southerly flow return
by Friday, meaning that isolated showers and storms will be possible
again with the heating of the afternoon. Scattered showers and storms
will be with us as we head into
the weekend.

TROPICS: Low pressure east of the Bahamas has a chance to become a
tropical depression over
the next twenty four hours as it moves north northeast. But there is
sufficient wind shear in place to likely keep the system from further
development into a tropical storm.

ON THIS DATE IN 2000: Record heat across the South. Tuscaloosa
established its all-time record high temperature with a reading of 107
degrees. The high at Mobile reached 105 to establish an all-time
record high for that station.

ON THIS DATE IN 2005: A Boy Scout hike up Mount Whitney in
California turned tragic when lightning struck the tarp tht had set up
in a meadow to shelter them from rain. The scout leader and one scout
were killed. The scouts were from Troop 7001 in St. Helena,
California. They had been on a nine day hike along the John Muir
Trail. Scouts were able to keep one troop member alive by
administering CPR for over an hour.

UNASHAMED!

Wouldn't it be awful to be ashamed of the most important things in our lives?

Many of us struggle when it comes to standing up for what we believe in.
Like our faith. There are times for all of us when we are tempted to be
ashamed of our faith. Or we downplay our faith so we won't offend someone.

Wouldn't it be great to live unashamed of our faith? Discover what it means
to live unashamed of the gospel and of Jesus Christ in a new sermon series
at Hunter Street Baptist Church in Hoover beginning Sunday, August 12.
Worship and Sunday School hours are 8:05, 9:30 and 10:45 a.m.
