ABC 33/40 E-FORECAST
Morning Edition For Tuesday January 2, 2007

LOOKING FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM?
CALL PRESTIGE ALARMS--WE ARE DIFFERENT.
GIVE US A CHANCE!

Prestige Alarm specializes in monitoring security systems without the
use of expensive phone lines or unreliable cell phones.

How do we do this? Prestige Alarm is one of the few companies who
monitors with an UL listed FCC licensed radio network.
In a typical system, if your phone line is cut or fails, then you have
no communication to the outside world.

Since we do not use phone lines, we can still dispatch the fire or
police when the emergency requires. Despite cut phone lines, storms or
over worked cell phones, we still get the signal through.

We do not offer the free systems like some of the other security
companies. But you do not want to trust in free equipment to protect
the people who are close to you.

Call Prestige Alarm today to get the best alarm for your home. Ask for
Eddie or Amie. 205.956.4811

...Sunshine Returns In Full Supply...

Sunshine will return in full supply across Alabama today, and will
help push temperatures into the upper 50s this afternoon after a
sub-freezing start this morning. After another clear and cold night
tonight, the warming trend resumes tomorrow as the high will be in the
low 60s for most communities across the northern half of Alabama.

TO THE WEST: The "Four Corners Storm Machine" continues to crank 'em
out every three to four days, meaning dry periods here will be short
lived. Clouds will return on Thursday in advance of the next system
which is now forming over the southwest U.S. (the Four Corners is
where Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah come together). Showers
should enter West Alabama during the afternoon Thursday, and the rain
will overspread the entire state Thursday night. This system looks
fairly similar to the one that affected Alabama this past Sunday; we
believe the greatest chance of severe storms will be with 50 miles of
the Gulf coast. The air up this way most likely will be too stable for
a big severe weather threat, and wind fields at all levels aren't
particularly strong.

We do expect another good soaking, however; rainfall amounts of one to
two inches are likely, especially from about 6:00 p.m. Thursday
through 12:00 Noon Friday. This will bring us our first rainfall
surplus of 2007. The rain will taper off from west to east during the
day Friday, and we should be rain-free by Friday night.

WEEKEND PEEK: The FCSM (Four Corners Storm Machine) will toss out
another system quickly, which will bring more rain to Alabama before
the weekend is over. But, at this point it looks like we have a decent
chance of squeezing in a dry day on Saturday before the wet weather
returns late Saturday night and Sunday. Colder air will return to the
state early next week on Monday (January 8), but the current positive
phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) doesn't favor any long
lasting or really severe cold air shots here for the next 10 to 16
days. Can the NAO flip to the negative side? Sure, and that might very
well happen after the middle of this month, but no sign of it so far
based on computer model data.

DIGGING OUT: The most recent blizzard for the Rockies and the High
Plains was a monster; the storm was blamed for 12 deaths in four
states. The Civil Air Patrol sent six planes into the air Monday over
Colorado's Kit Carson County, where there had been reports of people
snowbound along Interstate 70, even though that highway reopened
Sunday.

ACROSS THE FRUITED PLAIN: We note that the weather is getting really
cold again around the Arctic region; the low yesterday morning in
Nuiqsut, Alaska was 46 degrees below zero; the coldest spot in the
nation. Bridgeport, CT was soaked with 2.15" of rain yesterday.
Warmest spot around the nation was Fort Lauderdale, Florida with a
balmy 82 degrees.
