ABC 33/40 E-FORECAST
Morning Edition For Thursday January 4, 2007

LOOKING FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM?
CALL PRESTIGE ALARMS--WE ARE DIFFERENT.
GIVE US A CHANCE!

Prestige Alarm specializes in monitoring security systems without the use of
expensive phone lines or unreliable cell phones.

How do we do this? Prestige Alarm is one of the few companies who monitors
with an UL listed FCC licensed radio network.
In a typical system, if your phone line is cut or fails, then you have no
communication to the outside world.

Since we do not use phone lines, we can still dispatch the fire or police
when the emergency requires. Despite cut phone lines, storms or over worked
cell phones, we still get the signal through.

We do not offer the free systems like some of the other security companies.
But you do not want to trust in free equipment to protect the people who are
close to you.

Call Prestige Alarm today to get the best alarm for your home. Ask for Eddie
or Amie. 205.956.4811

...Another Good Soaking...

An unsettled, wet weather pattern is setting up for Alabama and the
Deep South for the next four days. There will be some decent breaks in
the rain, but you sure need to keep the rain gear handy. Look for
showers to slowly increase across the state today, with widespread
rain and a few thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow morning. This lead
system should produce average rain amounts of one to two inches across
the state, with isolated totals over two inches over the southwest
part of the state. As we have discussed all week, the risk of severe
weather for this part of Alabama is minimal with very little
atmospheric instability. Any severe storms should be confined to the
immediate Gulf coast region. The rain should diminish from west to
east during the midday hours tomorrow, but the far eastern counties
could see periods of rain well into the afternoon hours.

WEEKEND WEATHER: I still think most of the day Saturday will be dry.
Having said that, there will still be some residual moisture around,
which means a few isolated showers will form, but there will be very
little forcing. Some sun is possible at times on Saturday, and the
weather will remain very mild with afternoon temperatures well in the
60s. However, on Sunday, rain should become widespread again with a
second wave coming in from the west. Rain is likely much of the day
Sunday and into Sunday night, and an additional one inch of rain is
possible. Hopefully we will get away with no major flooding problems,
but it will be something to watch.

NEXT WEEK: The latest model data suggests the rain will move out of
the state Sunday night, with cooler air slowly moving in on Monday.
The sky should clear slowly from west to east Monday, with a decent
amount of sunshine by Tuesday and Wednesday of next week. Looks like
we will have the potential for a light freeze Tuesday and Wednesday
morning, but still nothing unusually cold for early January in
Alabama.

NEW COLD AIR BUILD-UP: We continue to watch with interest the build up
of bitterly cold Arctic air over much of Alaska and the western part
of Canada. The mercury dropped to 50 degrees below zero early
yesterday morning in Umiat, Alaska. How much, if any, of that brutally
cold air winds up in the Deep South later in the month remains to be
seen.

We have a weather watcher, Todd Foisy, in Girdwood, Alaska (Todd is
originally from Birmingham); he reported a high yesterday of 19
degrees with 58 inches of snow on the ground. Snow was increasing
again at his location last night.

ROAMING: Eugene, Oregon was soaked with 2.12" of rain yesterday. Up
the road at Seattle, the total was 1.01". Florida continues in the
midst of a winter warm spell; hottest places in the nation were all in
the Sunshine State where Fort Myers, Naples, and Punta Gorda all
reached 85 degrees.
