SOME MUCH NEEDED RAIN: A broad band of showers has been slowly
moving eastward across Alabama since mid morning. The showers do not
seem to be in a big hurry. The slow movement is giving some
communities good amounts of rain.

There has been very little lightning indicated, however, Tornado
Warnings were issued for a time for Choctaw and Marengo Counties in SW
Alabama.

The band of showers will continue moving slowly eastward. Here in
Central Alabama, including the Birmingham area, the showers should
diminish greatly by midnight. The sky will be clearing tomorrow
morning and then we are home free for lots of sunshine and mild
afternoons all the way into the weekend. In fact, it appears we may be
rain free into the middle of next week. While nights will be cool, the
afternoons could not be nicer for Christmas shoppers or anything you
need to do outdoors. For the next five days, afternoon temperatures
will be more than 10 degrees warmer than normal for mid December, with
some afternoons sporting highs above 70.

A COLD DECEMBER SO FAR: Let's spotlight Tuscaloosa for this report.
If you stepped outside today, you would not realize that December so
far has been very cold. At Tuscaloosa Airport, the first 11 days
averaged 9 degrees colder than normal and the temperature dropped to
freezing or lower on 10 of the 11 days. On December 8, it was 18
degrees below normal. We need this rain. Before today, Tuscaloosa had
received only 0.09 this month and that is typical of the entire state.

THE EVER INTERESTING WORLD OF WEATHER: Bitter cold arctic air has
vacated the far north and Alaska, at least temporarily. Here in the
lower 48, the coldest temperature this morning was 3 above zero at
Alamosa, Waverly and Gunnison—all in Colorado. In the SW part of the
state, Telluride ski area got 10 inches of new snow with 41 inches on
the ground. (Our own, Bill Murray, used to manage a new swanky hotel
in Telluride.)

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: You may not believe this, but I have
been ambushed 8 times today. That is how many times I have made the
treacherous journey from my weather office to the kitchen for a snack
or a cup of coffee. Even if I tippy-toe, Molly hears me. She jumps out
of my recliner and tosses one of her balls at me. Translation: "Big
guy, you've just got to play ball for a moment." I did almost every
time. There were a couple of times when she was too sleepy to leave
the recliner, but she raised her head and gave me the sniff test as I
went by to make sure I did not have a snack. She is a little beggar,
but the majority owner of Molly has made me pledge not to give her any
more human food. Life goes on and I try to avoid looking little Miss
Molly in the eye.....

LOOKING FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM?
CALL PRESTIGE ALARMS--WE ARE DIFFERENT.
GIVE US A CHANCE!

Prestige Alarm specializes in monitoring security systems
without the use of expensive phone lines or unreliable cell phones.

How do we do this? Prestige Alarm is one of the few companies
who monitors with an UL listed FCC licensed radio network.
In a typical system, if your phone line is cut or fails,
then you have no communication to the outside world.

Since we do not use phone lines, we can still dispatch the
fire or police when the emergency requires. Despite cut
phone lines, storms or over worked cell phones, we still
get the signal through.

We do not offer the free systems like some of the other
security companies. But you do not want to trust in free
equipment to protect the people who are close to you.

Call Prestige Alarm today to get the best alarm for your
home. Ask for Eddie or Amie. 205.956.4811
