...Fabulous November Weather Continues...

If golf courses could not make money yesterday with a holiday Friday and the
most fantastic November weather in memory, they need to close. I got the
notion that nearly every golfer in the state took to the links yesterday
afternoon. The shoppers were rewarded too, with the blue skies and warm
temperatures in the lower 70s. It will be more of the same today and
Sunday, and nearly as nice on Monday and Tuesday as a ridge of high pressure
continues building into Alabama from the east.

THE ALABAMA WEATHER STORY: How about those diurnal temperature ranges
yesterday? The spread between morning lows and afternoon highs averaged
some 35-40 degrees, about as big as you will see here in Alabama. Expect
more of the same today with highs rising quickly from the upper 30s to the
lower 70s. The next two days will look like carbon copies of today, with
lows around 40 and highs in the 70s under sunny skies.

CHANGES AHEAD: A powerful cold front will approach Alabama late in the
week. Our best guess for timing at this time is that it will pass during
the day on Thursday. We will see gradually increasing clouds late on
Tuesday, with mostly cloudy conditions on Wednesday with a chance of
showers. Showers and thunderstorms will become likely by late Wednesday
night into Thursday morning. There is a chance for severe weather with the
system, although it does not look likely. Then there could be a period of
wintry precipitation late on Thursday into Friday morning, most likely
coming as a little freezing rain or drizzle. Friday will be a miserable day
with temperatures near freezing, that freezing rain and a strong northwest
wind.

ON THIS DATE IN 1963: The teletypes of the Associated Press fell silent
for the first time in history as the nation observed a moment of silence for
fallen President John F. Kennedy.

1926 THANKSGIVING DAY TORNADO OUTBREAK: A major Thanksgiving Day outbreak
started on the afternoon of the 25th across Arkansas and Missouri. The
deadliest twister of the day was an F4 that killed 23 people as it moved
across Faulkner and Cleburne Counties in Arkansas, including 17 in Heber
Springs. Every structure in Big Piney, MO was damaged or destroyed by a
late afternoon F3. Seven people died near Haynesville, LA in an evening F2
tornado. Four plantations in Morehouse Parish, LA were destroyed just
before midnight by an F3 tornado that killed twelve people, including four
of fifteen members of one family. The outbreak came to a close just before
dawn in Fayette and Marion Counties in Alabama. The final tornado rated as
an F3 and passed just northwest of Winfield where a family of four all
sitting down to breakfast was killed. When all was said and done, a total
of 21 significant tornadoes (F2 or higher,) 9 strong (F3) and two violent
(F4) tornadoes were recorded. At least 91 people died.

MOTORCYCLE RIDE--DECEMBER 2nd
BENEFITING THE ELDRIDGE CHILDREN'S HOME

Come join us in a fantastic motorcycle ride with a great cause!

It's the 4th Annual Eldridge Children's Home Benefit Ride. The home, located
in Eldridge just off Hwy 78 and State Hwy 13 in Northwest Alabama, has been
in operation since 1948. It houses 30 children in all age groups; they are
educated in public schools, attend local churches and are raised within the
campus in homes. The home accepts no state or federal money and operates on
donations from area churches and individuals.

Motorcycle riders get together for a ride to benefit this home. Riders are
able to fulfill a special "Christmas Wish List" from each child and help
operate this home all year long. Riders are encouraged to bring gift cards
from any retail outlet or give a donation via check, made payable to
Eldridge Children's Home.
This home has a 501(c)3 status, so donations are tax deductible.

Weather will not be a factor--just be there for the children.
The first Saturday in December, all roads lead to Eldridge.
