FIRST SNOW FLURRIES OF THE SEASON: We got one report this
afternoon of some fairly heavy snow showers around Ashland in Clay
County. Lighter snow flurries have been reported at a number of
locations over NE and East Alabama. This is not a hint that you should
head to the grocery store, because no travel problems will occur at
all. Instead, it will be clearing tonight with a freeze all the way
down to the coast. Even in Mobile and Baldwin County, temperatures are
expected to fall into the upper 20s tonight.

The big high pressure system bulging into the area is rather strong
for so early in the season. This is going to give us dry weather for
the rest of the week with some cold nights. However, moderating
temperatures can be expected starting tomorrow afternoon and even
warmer toward the end of the week. We should see near 70 Thursday and
Friday with mostly sunshine.

Here in Central Alabama, the low temperature for tonight will be
rather tricky. The wind may not totally down before daybreak. If there
is still a 5 to 7 mph wind where you live tomorrow morning, your low
may be 30 or 31. We are using 28 for an average low, which will
pertain mostly to communities that have a near calm wind before
daybreak.

THANKSGIVING DAY: Could not ask for nicer weather w the afternoon
high close to 70, lighter winds and almost total sunshine. That was
not the case in 1950 when we were getting ready around Thanksgiving
for a bitter cold wave that would carry the Birmingham temperature
down to 5 above zero. We will post a special BLOG story about that
major plunge in temperatures by tomorrow.

THE WORLD OF WEATHER: It has been 7-1/2 years since the last F5
tornado in the USA. It occurred in the Oklahoma City area on May 3,
1999. That is the longest stretch without an F5 since the turn of the
century. Check out a story by Bill Murray on the BLOG that goes into
more detail…42 inches of snow was on the ground this morning at
Pelican, Alaska…Juneau has received 44 inches so far this season—over
6 times the normal amount…32 below zero was the coldest in Alaska this
morning, at Bettles…hottest yesterday was 96 at Woodland ill,
California…on Sunday Los Angeles had 92—which was a record…two inches
of snow this morning on Mt. Le Conte in the Great Smoky Mountains and
also on Grandfather Mountain in North Carolina…there was 1 inch on the
ground at Beech Mountain, Mt. Mitchell, and Banner Elk, North
Carolina.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: I am afraid I have been around Little
Miss Molly too long, or at least writing about her too much. For the
first time ever, I dreamed about her last night. In my dream, I was
delivering a sermon in a very large church that did not look familiar,
except that Dennis Altizer, the music director at our church, was
leading the singing. I am not a minister, but midway through whatever
I was doing, Little Miss Molly came bouncing into the church, hopped
up on the pews and was dancing across everyone's lap wagging her tail.
I asked Dennis to sing an extra song while I chased her down. Almost
never caught her. She was running under the pews and hiding. She
completely disrupted the church services. I spanked her with a song
book and there were murmurs of disapproval from the congregation for
the spanking. Life goes on....

LOOKING FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM?
CALL PRESTIGE ALARMS--WE ARE DIFFERENT.
GIVE US A CHANCE!

Prestige Alarm specializes in monitoring security systems
without the use of expensive phone lines or unreliable cell phones.

How do we do this? Prestige Alarm is one of the few companies
who monitors with an UL listed FCC licensed radio network.
In a typical system, if your phone line is cut or fails,
then you have no communication to the outside world.

Since we do not use phone lines, we can still dispatch the
fire or police when the emergency requires. Despite cut
phone lines, storms or over worked cell phones, we still
get the signal through.

We do not offer the free systems like some of the other
security companies. But you do not want to trust in free
equipment to protect the people who are close to you.

Call Prestige Alarm today to get the best alarm for your
home. Ask for Eddie or Amie. 205.956.4811
