ABC 33/40 E-FORECAST
Afternoon Edition For Wednesday November 8, 2006

LOOKING FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM?
CALL PRESTIGE ALARMS--WE ARE DIFFERENT.
GIVE US A CHANCE!

Prestige Alarm specializes in monitoring security systems
without the use of expensive phone lines or unreliable cell phones.

How do we do this? Prestige Alarm is one of the few companies
who monitors with an UL listed FCC licensed radio network.
In a typical system, if your phone line is cut or fails,
then you have no communication to the outside world.

Since we do not use phone lines, we can still dispatch the
fire or police when the emergency requires. Despite cut
phone lines, storms or over worked cell phones, we still
get the signal through.

We do not offer the free systems like some of the other
security companies. But you do not want to trust in free
equipment to protect the people who are close to you.

Call Prestige Alarm today to get the best alarm for your
home. Ask for Eddie or Amie. 205.956.4811

COOL TONIGHT, BUT MILD THURSDAY: Clouds hung tough for much of
today, but early this afternoon it had cleared in all areas except
extreme East Alabama. Look for clear cool weather tonight and mostly
sunshine for Thursday. The old thermometer will get a jump start early
tomorrow morning after a low tonight near 47. Both Thursday and Friday
should be very warm for November with Friday being our warmest day. We
are calling for an average high across Central Alabama of 79 Friday.
We may have to raise that a bit later. Don't be surprised to hear of
some 82-degree highs in West Alabama in places like Tuscaloosa and
Livingston.

OUR NEXT RAIN: Sometimes I think weather models flip a coin before
their final output. Two of our models call for some showers on
Saturday with one of them indicating a possibility all day. The other
model limits showers mostly to Saturday morning and that is the way we
are leaning. A cold front will be entering NW Alabama early Saturday
and moving quickly through the state. Highs on Saturday will only be
in the 60s. Sunday look for more sunshine. Further down the road,
showers return early next week.

HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED: Way back on November 8, 1870, the U.S.
Signal Corps Weather Service (forerunner to the U.S. Weather Bureau
and National Weather Service) issued the first storm warning. It was
for the Great Lakes.

OUR WORLD OF WEATHER: A nice surge of very warm air pushing
northward from Texas into the Plains. Don't be surprised to hear of
highs in the low 90s for SW Texas this afternoon…our eyes are also
focused on the far north where it is still quite cold. The cold air is
building up over Eastern Alaska and the Yukon Territory of Canada. It
was 30 below this morning at Chisana, Alaska. The wind chill was 40
below at Eagle. Over in Greenland, it was a bitter 69 below at Summit
on the ice cap. It is not even winter yet…coldest temperatures in the
lower 48 this morning included 14 at Doyleville and 18 at Gunnison…if
you ever get a chance, visit Gunnison one of these days and continue
down the Gunnison Valley parallel to the river through Montrose, Delta
and to Grand Junction. It is beautiful.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: I think we have pooped out Little Miss
Molly from playing so much the last two days. Amazingly, she crawled
out of bed this morning, moaned and groaned and stretched, had some
water and food, had a brief outdoor bathroom break, came back in and
jumped back up on the bed and went sound asleep. She slept most of the
morning. When we did finally take a walk, she was very assertive and
made me go the full half mile. This was one morning we did not see
anything unusual. We did hear about three old crows cawing. That is
always good music to wake up to. Pest control person came by. Miss
Molly thought she was supposed to greet them at the door. When he
left, she pressed her nose against the bottom of the door to see what
he smelled like. She is the nosiest busybody you ever saw. We did a
lot of loving on the couch last night as we watched election returns.
One day Molly will run for office in the doggie world. But life goes
on. I'm afraid I could not do without her.....
