ABC 33/40 E-FORECAST
Afternoon Edition For Tuesday November 7, 2006

LOOKING FOR AN ALARM SYSTEM?
CALL PRESTIGE ALARMS--WE ARE DIFFERENT.
GIVE US A CHANCE!

Prestige Alarm specializes in monitoring security systems
without the use of expensive phone lines or unreliable cell phones.

How do we do this? Prestige Alarm is one of the few companies
who monitors with an UL listed FCC licensed radio network.
In a typical system, if your phone line is cut or fails,
then you have no communication to the outside world.

Since we do not use phone lines, we can still dispatch the
fire or police when the emergency requires. Despite cut
phone lines, storms or over worked cell phones, we still
get the signal through.

We do not offer the free systems like some of the other
security companies. But you do not want to trust in free
equipment to protect the people who are close to you.

Call Prestige Alarm today to get the best alarm for your
home. Ask for Eddie or Amie. 205.956.4811

STILL A RISK OF SOME SHOWERS TONIGHT: That includes the possibility
of a thunderstorm. Even though the widespread steady rain has moved
out of the state, we still have a pool of cold air aloft that will
affect our area tonight. This could set off some scattered showers and
possibly a thunderstorm. Under conditions like that, it is not unusual
to have some hail. It does not look like the showers will be
widespread. By morning, there may be some fog forming also as our
ground level moisture is extremely high. After a few lingering showers
early tomorrow, some sunshine should show up by afternoon. Thursday
and Friday should be mostly sunshine and quite mild for November. By
Saturday, another cold front will be approaching from the NW. it
should set off some scattered showers and maybe a thunderstorm. Early
indications are that Sunday should be dry. Here is a list of some of
the heavier rainfall amounts overnight:

3.37 inches at Mobile Regional Airport
3.65 in Winfield
2.43 at Tuscaloosa Airport
3.46 in Haleyville
2.56 at Jasper
3.35 in Fayette

Numerous other parts of the state had well over 1 inch of rain. Some
strong winds developed late last night—an outflow from so much
rain-cooled air. There was a report of a barn unroofed at Hamilton.

OUR WORLD OF WEATHER: Major, major problems in the Seattle area and
much of the Pacific Northwest. 4.39 inches of rain overnight at
Olympia and 7.86 inches on Stampede Pass. A number of rivers will rise
to an all-time crest. The governor has declared a state of emergency
in 18 Washington counties. Besides all that, 25-foot swells were
expected along the coast…cold temperatures this morning, 21 at Presque
Isle, Maine, 26 below at Gulkana, Alaska, and 35 below at Dawson in
the Yukon Territory.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: I kept my little girl up so late last
night playing ballgames with her. She got so excited that when we
finally said nite-nite time after midnight, she ran and hid. She
wanted to play even more. Got her out of bed early this morning and
she was still so tired that she headed for her blanket after spending
some time taking a bath. I can't do everything that Molly does. For
example, I can't bend over far enough to lick my paws. The walks that
she forces me to take are so enjoyable and it makes me notice some
tiny abstracts of nature. One of those not long ago (befroe it turned
cold) was two earthworms traveling in two opposite directions on the
walking track. When they met, they paused and looked at each other.
One turned around and went in the same direction of the other one.
Maybe that led to an earthworm wedding. Life goes on even in the tiny,
tiny realms of nature. All the little creatures of the world have
problems like us grownups, but life goes on......
