THE NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF

NORTHWEST ALABAMA
NORTHERN MISSISSIPPI
SOUTHWEST INTO PART OF MIDDLE TENNESSEE

EFFECTIVE THIS SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING FROM 300 PM UNTIL
800 PM CDT.

HAIL TO 2 INCHES IN DIAMETER...THUNDERSTORM WIND GUSTS TO 70
MPH...AND DANGEROUS LIGHTNING ARE POSSIBLE IN THESE AREAS.

THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH AREA IS APPROXIMATELY ALONG AND 65
STATUTE MILES EAST AND WEST OF A LINE FROM 90 MILES NORTH OF
MUSCLE SHOALS ALABAMA TO 35 MILES SOUTH OF TUPELO MISSISSIPPI.

CHARACTERIZED BY 2000 J/KG MLCAPE...LITTLE OR NO CINH AND 30-40 KT
EFFECTIVE SHEAR. THIS APPEARS MORE THAN ADEQUATE FOR SEVERE
THUNDERSTORMS...INCLUDING SUPERCELLS...PRIOR TO BEING UNDERCUT BY
APPROACHING OUTFLOW BOUNDARY.

AVIATION...A FEW SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH HAIL SURFACE AND ALOFT
