WE LIKE OUR THERMOMETERS NEW ATTITUDE: We are heading for some
really nice weather starting at midweek. Another cool front will move
through Central Alabama tonight. That will bring a few showers and
possibly even a thunderstorm through Tuesday morning. After that,
clouds should decrease and we expect lots of sunshine Wednesday,
Thursday and Friday. The humidity will be noticeably lower starting
later Tuesday and continue that way into the weekend.

HOW COOL WILL IT BE? We look for highs only in the mid 80s through
Thursday, but climbing back up to the upper 80s by Friday. Lows
tonight will be in the mid 60s, but for Wednesday and Thursday
morning, they should be closer to 60 across Central Alabama and some
50s in the North Alabama valleys.

IN THE TROPICAL WORLD: Tropical Depression 6 was over 1,200 miles
east of the Lesser Antilles and moving generally westward. The NHC
believes that this could become Tropical Storm Florence soon. Still
another upset weather area was several hundred miles WSW of the Cape
Verde Islands. That is way out in the Eastern Atlantic. It shows some
potential and if it does develop into a tropical storm, it will be
named Gordon.

Let's look in on what was powerful Hurricane John over on the opposite
side of the North American Continent. The NHC has issued the last
advisory. The center of John pushed all the way into the northern edge
of the Gulf of California. That is that long narrow body of water
between Baja, California and the Mexican coast. Some of the moisture
from that system is bringing significant flood problems to Southern
New Mexico and far West Texas. Street flooding was already reported
this morning in El Paso. They have had far too much rain in the last
several weeks.

OUR WORLD OF WEATHER: El Paso got 6.83 inches of rain during
August—an all-time record for that month…in the next 24 to 36 hours,
the temperature is expected to drop to 117 below zero at Vostok,
Antarctica. The wind chill will be off the charts…26 was the low in
the lower 48 this morning at the west entrance to Yellowstone National
Park…Death Valley had the honors of being the hottest Sunday with
116…how about good old Wichita Falls in North-Central Texas? They have
had a summer to remember. They only had 76 for a high Sunday and
expecting rain and 77 today. Only 80 today for Dallas and Oklahoma
City.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Sure am glad Little Miss Molly was
still asleep. The community cat slowly walked up our driveway and our
front walk to our front door and sniffed under the door as if she
could smell Molly inside. I feel sure Molly would have had cardiac
arrest. For some reason, she hates cats and rabbits. We have not seen
the rabbits in months, however we sure were delighted to hear our
friends, the two old crows when we first stepped outside. They had
been absent for weeks. It sounded like the same two old crows that
were arguing viciously on the very first day that Molly and I walked
and it resulted in the naming of the tallest discombobulated tree in
the community being named the Old Crow Motel. Life goes on.
