...Wetter Weather Ahead...

GOOD MORNING! A line of showers and storms marched across Mississippi last
evening, dying out before it reached the Alabama border. The showers and
storms were produced by a trough of low pressure to the west of us, but
Alabama continues under the protective power of a ridge of high pressure to
our east. The ridge will begin to breakdown today, but not before we have
another day of limited showers and storm activity.

TODAY: It looks like chances of showers and storms will be limited today
across the area. Temperatures should rise to near 90 degrees in most
locations under partly cloudy skies.

TONIGHT: Showers and storms should work eastward toward Alabama again
tonight, and unlike last night, they just might make it. So we will leave a
chance of showers and storms over western sections overnight.

THE WEEK AHEAD: The trough will be slowly moving across Alabama Monday.
This will mean an increased chance of showers and storms. The progression
will continue on Tuesday, and more showers and storms will form at just
about any point, but they will be most likely during the afternoon and
evening hours.
Indications are that the trough will be with us on through Wednesday and
Thursday, and perhaps on into Friday. This means an elevated chance of
showers and storms will be with us through most of the coming week. That is
not bad news, given that we have been a little short in the rainfall
department the past few weeks.

TROPICS: A fairly distinct tropical wave is northeast of the Leeward
Islands this morning, but upper winds do not favor development.

ON THIS DATE IN 2001: After spending 14 days meandering across the
southern United States, Allison, the costliest tropical storm in United
States history finally moved off the East Coast. Allison dumped flooding
rain along her entire path from the devastated Houston area where she made
landfall on the 5th of June, across the Southeast, Mid Atlantic and finally
into Massachusetts. 35 fatalities would be attributed to Allison, along
with more than $2.5 billion in damage.
