...Heat Cranks Up A Notch...

Dry and progressively warmer weather is the Alabama weather story. The
chance of any significant rain looks very small through Saturday as warmer
air aloft makes for a rather stable atmosphere. And, the warming trend
continues. We expect most spots to reach the upper 80s today, followed by
low 90s tomorrow and through the weekend. Looks for lots of sunshine on a
daily basis with only scattered clouds.

By Sunday, a few widely scattered showers or storms could show up as
slightly colder air aloft makes for a more unstable atmosphere. The chance
of scattered afternoon showers and storms will increase a bit early next
week with a weak front approaching from the north.

WE NEED RAIN: Birmingham has measured only .84" of rain since May 10, and
most of that (.63") fell on one day (June 2). Water conservation rules are
now being implemented in some Alabama communities, like Alabaster.

FIRE DANGER: These dry conditions, combined with lower than normal humidity
values during the daytime hours, will mean a high fire danger for Alabama
over the next few days. Be extremely careful if you are doing any outdoor
burning, and postpone it if possible.

AT THE BEACH: Lots of sunshine for the Alabama/Northwest Florida Gulf coast
through Saturday. Highs in the upper 80s, with sea water temperatures near
80.

A JUNE CHILL: A strong low pressure area off the New England Coast is
bringing real foul weather to that region of the country. Late yesterday,
Logan Airport in Boston reported visibility only 1/2 mile in heavy rain, 54
degrees, with winds out of the NE gusting to 45 mph. Offshore, the Boston
Buoy was reporting 11-foot waves.
