...Storms Late Today Will Be Isolated...

We will introduce a chance of isolated showers and storms for Alabama this
afternoon and tonight as a disturbance glides down the back side of the
upper air trough over the eastern U.S. With only limited moisture, rainfall
amounts should be fairly spotty. But, a few stronger storms could develop
over the northern third of the state.

Any showers tomorrow should be over the southern half of the state, and
those showers should be very widely spaced.

WARMER DAYS: Temperatures will be creeping upward in coming days. We expect
mid 80s today, with upper 80s tomorrow and Friday. By the time the weekend
arrives, an upper air high will be overhead, which should mean high in the
low 90s on Saturday and Sunday.

The warmer air aloft associated with the upper ridge should keep a lid on
most afternoon showers and storms that try to develop this weekend; the
chance of any one spot getting wet should be very small.

AT THE BEACH: The weather should be very nice along the Alabama and
Northwest Florida Gulf Coast for the next five days, with ample sunshine on
a daily basis and only isolated showers and storms. Highs will be in the mid
to upper 80s along the immediate coast, and the sea water temperature at
Panama City is running at 78 degrees (as of late last night).

The Gulf of Mexico is rather quiet, and tropical storm formation is not
expected in the region through the weekend.

DUSTY DAYS: Areas of dense blowing dust are likely in the Phoenix area over
the next few afternoons as "dry thunderstorms" develop across the desert.
Yesterday's high in Phoenix was a toasty 108 degrees.
