...Beautiful Sunday...

GOOD MORNING! Saturday was a beautiful day across Alabama. There were
just a few stratocumulus clouds across the area behind a cold front, but
they did little to limit the amount of sunshine. Temperatures were in the
middle 80s for the most part. Some high cirrostratus clouds overspread the
area late in the day, but mostly clear skies continued overnight.

TODAY: A crisp, clear Alabama morning greets the dawn on this Sunday
morning. Skies are clear, with just a little fog here and there. Expect
lots of sunshine through mid-morning with more stratocumulus clouds
developing later. Partly cloudy skies will continue through the day.
Temperatures will top out in the middle 80s.

TONIGHT: A few clouds will hang around through the overnight hours as a
disturbance passes to the northeast of Alabama. Temperatures will fall into
the upper 50 to lower 60s in most locations again.

MONDAY/TUESDAY: We will start the work week just like the weekend with a
dry northwesterly flow aloft. A few clouds will overspread the sky from
time to time as disturbances zip by, but precipitation looks unlikely.
Temperatures will gradually warm up a couple of degrees each day, rising
through the middle and upper 80s.

WEDNESDAY: Clouds will increase on Wednesday ahead of a disturbance that
will cross the state. A few showers and maybe a thunderstorm will accompany
the system.

REST OF THE WEEK: The persistent trough of low pressure over the eastern
half of the country will gradually lift out allowing a ridge of high
pressure to build over Alabama in the upper levels of the atmosphere. This
should guarantee partly cloudy weather for the rest of the week with warm
temperatures. We should get through much of the weekend dry, but moisture
levels will be on the increase by Sunday.

ON THIS DATE IN 1814: A swarm of tornadoes across southern Illinois,
southern Indiana and nothern Kentucky. Famous naturalist James Aubudon
observed one of the tornadoes at close range as he traveled near Morganfield
KY.
