...The Boss Is Away...

BUT it is not a time for us to play in the Weather Office. In fact, just
keeping up with the work that James does every day is amazing. He is up
with the chickens doing live radio. That job falls to J.B. this week. He
always sounds and looks so chipper in the morning map discussion and handles
one in the afternoon too. Brian has been covering those. There are radio
cuts for eighteen stations due by 1 p.m. and by 4 a.m. J.B. and I have been
handling those. Believe, doing weather all the way from Sierra Vista,
Arizona to Brunswick, Georgia can be challenging! Then there is the evening
forecast package James does, which I have had the privilege of doing, and
television that John has been covering. You can appreciate what a great job
James does when you break it down. But I know I am preaching to the choir
when I tell you that...

FRONTAL POSSIBILITIES: For the past seven days, we have been advertising
the possibility of a front. It is beginning to act like an AMTRAK train,
getting later with each passing forecast. It is expected to arrive late
tonight or Saturday morning. Ahead of it, showers and storms will become
numerous today and most everyone should get a decent amount of rain. Some
of the storms could be strong, but significant severe weather is not
expected.

THE WEEKEND: Skies should clear on Saturday, and you will notice the
difference in humidity. The drier and slightly cooler air will allow for
some more comfortable overnight readings. Look for 62 Saturday morning (if
front is on time) and 58 Sunday morning. Daytime highs will be more like
normal for this time of year. A gradual warm up will allow the mercury to
slide up through the 80s and approach 90 by the middle of next week. The
models develop a low over Georgia late in the weekend, and we could see a
shower by Monday or so.

TROPICS: The GFS develops one of its dubious tropical lows over the western
Caribbean late in the weekend and moves it northeast across Cuba and over
the Bahamas before heading it out to sea next week. Hmmm...
