...Afternoon Storms Remain Isolatedd...

Alabama's weather won't change much today and tomorrow, with partly sunny
warm days and the risk of just a few isolated late afternoon and nighttime
showers and storms. The best chance of those storms will remain over the
Tennessee Valley region of extreme north Alabama, but one or two could show
up as far south as I-20. High temperatures should be in the low 80s.

FRIDAY/SATURDAY: Coverage of showers and storms should increase during the
day Friday in response to an approaching upper trough. Periods of rain and
storms are likely Friday, Friday night, and during the day Saturday. A few
strong storms will be possible, but at the moment it looks like instability
values won't support a major severe weather threat.

Rainfall amounts of one to two inches are likely for the northern half of
the state, and some places near the Tennessee Valley might wind up with over
three inches.

SUNDAY: Drier air will flow in here over the latter half of the weekend, and
we expect Sunday to be a dry and pleasant day with the sky becoming mostly
sunny, and afternoon temperature reaching the low to mid 70s.

The dry weather should last into the first half of next week with mild
afternoons and cool nights for early May.

DID YOU KNOW? Hurricane season is less than one month away. It begins on
June 1, and runs through the end of November. Most of the stronger
hurricanes come in August and September, when the water is very warm in the
Atlantic basin. The first tropical storm this year will be named Alberto,
followed by Beryl, Chris, Debby, Ernesto, Florence, Gordon, Helene, Isaac,
Joyce, Kirk, and Leslie.
