...Warmer Afternoons Ahead...

A summer-like pattern is developing for Alabama during the mid-week period.
Temperatures will reach the low 80s each day through Thursday, about five
degrees above normal for early May. While the main thunderstorm action will
stay north of the state, storms might drift southward toward the Tennessee
Valley on a daily basis, and a few widely scattered storms are possible as
far south as I-20. The chance of any one spot getting wet today and tomorrow
is about one in five for North-Central Alabama. Where storms do form, they
could be strong.

Rain and storms will be increasing late this week on Friday with the
approach of a strong upper trough. In fact, looks like a good soaking for
much of the state from Friday afternoon through Saturday morning; most
places can expect one to two inches of rain. A few strong storms could be
involved as well; that threat will depend on the amount of unstable air
available.

REGIONS GOLF CLASSIC: This year the old Bruno's Memorial Classic is the
Regions Charity Golf Classic, and will be played at the Ross Bridge course.
The Senior PGA golfers will have to dodge raindrops at the course Friday
afternoon and at least part of the day Saturday, but the good news is that
Sunday should be a beautiful day for the final round, with ample sunshine
and high temperatures in the mid 70s.

REMINDER: All ABC 33/40 weather video and audio products are now available
on iTunes! for those of you with an iPod; just search ABC 33/40 and you can
subscribe from there.

EXTREMES: Triple digit heat has returned to the southwest U.S. deserts; the
national hot spot yesterday was Death Valley, CA with 107. Boulder, WY
dropped to 17 yesterday morning.
