...A Brighter Day For Alabama...

Beautiful weather headlines our forecast package for Alabama today and
tomorrow. Ample sunshine, highs in the 70s, and cool nighttime temperatures.
Not bad at all. But, more change is ahead for the weekend.

RACE WEEKEND: NASCAR fans will be dealing with some rain at the Talladega
Superspeedway this weekend, but the news is not all bad. Showers and storms
will move into Alabama during the day Saturday as a major storm system winds
up over the middle of the nation.
For now, it looks like the most widespread rain will come Saturday night
into Sunday morning, in the general time frame from 6:00 p.m. Saturday
through 12:00 noon on Sunday. Based on the strength of the system, some
strong to severe storms will be possible across Alabama during this time
frame. The big question is the instability; it remains to be seen if the air
cane become very unstable after dry air settles in here today and tomorrow.
But, it is certainly possible.

The rain should taper off from west to east during the midday hours Sunday,
which means there is a chance the race at Talladega will actually be run on
time.

NEXT WEEK: Clouds could linger into Monday, along with some risk of
scattered light rain. The middle of next week should be dry with
temperatures at or below normal levels for early May in Alabama.

HIGH WINDS: The Tallapoosa County EMA Office reported non-thunderstorm wind
damage at 6:40 tonight 2 miles WNW of New Site. The apparent gustnado
caused extensive damage to a house on Goldville Cutoff Road. Radar and storm
spotters reported showers/sprinkles in the area but no thunderstorm.
