...A Chilly Weekend Ahead...

Once again unseasonably cool weather headlines our forecast today. Our
forecast high of 54 is exactly 15 degrees below normal for March 24. The sky
should partly sunny in the wake of a system that brought a few sprinkles to
the state yesterday. There were even some snow flakes and ice pellets over
Marion and Lamar counties in northwest Alabama for a brief time yesterday
afternoon as surface temperatures dipped into the upper 30s.

THE WEEKEND: Cool and dry weather will continue through the weekend, with
mostly sunny days and clear nights. Highs will stay in the 50s, and a light
freeze is likely both tomorrow and Sunday morning.

NEXT RAIN: We will continue to mention a chance of showers by Tuesday next
week, but with limited moisture and dynamics we don't expect a big rain
event or a severe weather threat. Temperatures will be warmer next week;
highs rise into the 60s on Monday and Tuesday, and we have a chance of
reaching the low 70s by Wednesday afternoon.

ROAMING: A heavy snow warning remains in effect for the East Tennessee
mountains this morning, where 4 to 6 inches of snow is likely about 3,000
feet. The higher peaks will see even more. Honolulu, Hawaii was soaked with
1.28" of rain yesterday. The warmest place in the nation was Marathon, FL
with 87 degrees.

TV WEATHER SPECIAL: Join us for our Storm Alert 2006 TV special Sunday
evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. on ABC 33/40. If you missed our annual
weather tour across the state last month, you will have the chance to see
all of the video stories on the special, including one on a man who lost
both parents and five siblings in the March 21, 1932 outbreak.
