WAY TOO COOL FOR MARCH: Especially for late March. Tonight's low
temperatures will be about 10 degrees colder than normal and today's highs
were running about 13 degrees too low.

A disturbance moving through tonight will keep us mostly cloudy for
much of the night. There has been some precipitation, but most of it has
evaporated before reaching the ground. Nevertheless, we could see some
sprinkles and maybe a patch or two of light rain tonight, mostly during the
evening.

After that it is clear sailing for some dry weather all the way
through Monday. Our next decent chance of rain will come on Tuesday when we
will have some showers and maybe some thunderstorms move through. It does
not appear to be a big event at this time.

After tonight's cloud cover, we will have more sun than clouds all
the way through Monday. Every night is going to be flirting with freezing
temperatures through Saturday night. Our lowest temperature should be about
30 early Sunday morning. Don't be surprised to hear of some 27 to 30
temperatures in the colder valleys of North and East Alabama.

That is what happened last night. Here is a short list of some low
temperatures:

27 in Black Creek with light to moderate frost
29 in Mentone and Crossville
30 in Cullman
31 in Pinson
34 at Birmingham Airport
35 in Anniston
37 in Tuscaloosa

WEEKEND AT THE BEACH: Some folks may still be going down to the
beach for the end of Spring Break. Unusually chilly for late March with lows
for the next four nights in the upper 30s and highs in the low to mid 60s.
Generally dry.

SNOW FOR THE GREAT SMOKIES: The NWS in Knoxville upgraded the snow
forecast for the great Smoky Mountains to a Heavy Snow Warning for tonight
through tomorrow afternoon. Total accumulation from the storm was expected
to be from 4 to 7 inches. Most of the heavier accumulation should be in the
higher elevations, but even down low places like Cades Cove, Pigeon Forge
and Gatlinburg will have accumulations.

USA NOTES: Miami had 90 Wednesday for the USA high...it was zero
this morning in Hettinger, North Dakota and at the Vail Ski Patrol in
Colorado where there was 87 inches of snow on the ground...32 below at Point
Lay, Alaska this morning...still 24 inches of snow on the ground at Loretto,
Nebraska.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: A real mixed up day for Little Miss
Molly. She is sort of set in her ways and she reacts to any changes. She
loves people. I had at least 5 or 6 ballgames with her today already. Then,
a salesman came by for 45 minutes followed almost immediately by the air
conditioning people for a routine checkup for the summer. She, of course,
wanted to be in the midst of all the activity. Shut her up in the master
bedroom for a time. She objects greatly to that. It is like an insult. We
will play some more this afternoon and tonight and try to get her back to
normal. Life goes on.
