...A Chance to Dry Out...

Drier air works back into Alabama today following a big time soaking
yesterday. Here are some rainfall amounts from around the state:

Marion 2.71"
Moundville 2.60"
Holt 2.37"
Crumly Chapel 2.15"
Huffman 2.10"
Riverchase 1.87"
Nauvoo 1.84"
Jasper 1.81"
Birmingham Airport 1.72"

The sun should begin to peek out at times today as the air begins to dry
out, and the rest of the week will be rain-free, but temperatures will be
well below normal for mid to late March. In fact, early morning temperatures
will be near the freezing mark on a daily basis through Saturday.

A passing upper air wave will bring scattered clouds on Thursday, but the
latter half of the week should feature mostly sunny days.

WEEKEND PEEK: At this point the coming weekend looks dry and cool, with
highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s.

MONDAY'S STORMS: Severe storms were confined to the southern half of Alabama
yesterday. At Auburn, winds gusted to 85 mph, and funnel clouds were spotted
in parts of Elmore, Tallapoosa, and Russell counties. Serious flash flooding
was reported around Meridian, MS; one hospital had two feet of water in the
emergency room at one point.

TV SPECIAL: Don't forget our Storm Alert 2006 TV special airs this Sunday
evening on ABC 33/40 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m.!
