VALLEY OVERNIGHT AND SATURDAY. TEMPERATURES WILL DROP CLOSE TO NEAR
FREEZING OVERNIGHT...ESPECIALLY AT THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS...AND
LIKELY CONTINUE TO DROP THROUGH THE DAY ON SATURDAY. AT THE SAME
TIME...AN UPPER AIR DISTURBANCE MOVING ACROSS THE SOUTHERN PLAINS
WILL SPREAD PRECIPITATION INTO THE TENNESSEE VALLEY OVERNIGHT AND

PRECIPITATION WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY TONIGHT...
WHILE A SHALLOW COLD AIR MASS REMAINS IN PLACE. TEMPERATURES
TONIGHT WILL DROP TO AROUND FREEZING...AND CONTINUED NORTH WINDS
WILL HOLD TEMPERATURES STEADY OR POSSIBLY CAUSE THEM TO DROP
THROUGH THE DAY ON SATURDAY.
AT THIS TIME...THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AS MAINLY
RAIN...MIXED WITH FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET OVERNIGHT. FOR LAUDERDALE
COUNTY IN NORTHWEST ALABAMA...AND THE TENNESSEE COUNTIES OF
LINCOLN...MOORE...AND FRANKLIN...A CHANGE TO ALL LIGHT SNOW IS
EXPECTED FOR THE PERIOD BETWEEN 8 AM AND 2 PM SATURDAY...DIMINISHING
TO FLURRIES LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1
TO 2 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE...WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS IN THE
HIGHEST MOUNTAINS. ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO 0.15 INCH WILL BE
POSSIBLE.
FOR THE REST OF NORTHERN ALABAMA...EXCEPT CULLMAN COUNTY...A MIX
OF FREEZING RAIN AND SLEET WILL BE POSSIBLE BETWEEN 4 AM AND 8 AM.
THEN MAINLY A MIX OF SLEET AND SNOW IS EXPECTED BETWEEN 8 AM AND
2 PM...DIMINISHING AS FLURRIES LATE IN THE AFTERNOON. TOTAL SLEET
AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND ONE INCH WILL BE POSSIBLE.
IN CULLMAN COUNTY...THE PRECIPITATION WILL START AS RAIN TOWARD
DAYBREAK SATURDAY WITH FREEZING RAIN LIKELY IN THE HILLS AND
MOUNTAINS. THAT PRECIPITATION COMBINATION WILL CONTINUE UNTIL
AROUND NOONTIME SATURDAY. DURING SATURDAY AFTERNOON THERE COULD BE
A MIX OF SNOW AND SLEET BEFORE DIMINISHING AS FLURRIES IN THE
EARLY EVENING. FREEZING RAIN ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND 1/10 INCH
WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH SLEET ACCUMULATIONS OF LESS THAN 1 INCH.
