VALLEY ON SATURDAY...
.A SHALLOW COLD AIR MASS IS TAKING HOLD OVER THE REGION TODAY...
DROPPING TEMPERATURES CLOSE TO THE FREEZING MARK LATE TONIGHT. AT
THE SAME TIME...AN UPPER AIR DISTURBANCE MOVING ACROSS THE
SOUTHERN PLAINS WILL SPREAD PRECIPITATION INTO THE TENNESSEE
VALLEY TONIGHT. LITTLE TEMPERATURE RECOVERY IS EXPECTED DURING THE
DAY SATURDAY...CONTINUING A MIX OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION. THE
PRECIPITATION WILL TAPER OFF AS LIGHT SNOW SATURDAY AFTERNOON AND
EVENING AS THE DISTURBANCE EXITS THE REGION.

SATURDAY EVENING...
THE WINTER STORM WATCH HAS BEEN EXTENDED AND IS NOW IN EFFECT FROM
MIDNIGHT TONIGHT THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO SPREAD ACROSS THE TENNESSEE VALLEY
OVERNIGHT TONIGHT...WHILE A SHALLOW COLD AIR MASS REMAINS IN
PLACE. TEMPERATURES TONIGHT WILL DROP TO AROUND FREEZING...AND
CONTINUED NORTH WINDS WILL HOLD TEMPS STEADY OR POSSIBLY CAUSE
THEM TO DROP THROUGH THE DAY.
THE RESULT WILL BE A VARYING MIX OF WINTRY PRECIPITATION. AT THIS
TIME...THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AS MAINLY RAIN OR
FREEZING RAIN OVERNIGHT TONIGHT...CHANGING TO A MIX OF SLEET AND
RAIN OR FREEZING RAIN BY DAYBREAK SATURDAY. FREEZING RAIN WILL BE
OF GREATEST CONCERN OVER SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...AND EXTREME
NORTH ALABAMA...ESPECIALLY IN HIGHER ELEVATIONS. DURING THE DAY
SATURDAY...SLEET IS EXPECTED TO BE THE PREDOMINANT PRECIPITATION
TYPE ACROSS NORTH ALABAMA...WITH A SLEET AND SNOW MIX OVER
SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. THE PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO CHANGE
TO ALL LIGHT SNOW...OR A SLEET AND SNOW MIX...BEFORE ENDING.
ACCUMULATIONS OF THIS WINTRY MIX WILL VARY WIDELY. AT THIS TIME...
ICE ACCUMULATIONS OF UP TO ONE QUARTER INCH ARE POSSIBLE...MAINLY
IN THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS AND IN SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE. SLEET
ACCUMULATIONS UP TO AN INCH WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS THE REST OF
THE TENNESSEE VALLEY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF ONE TO ONE AND A HALF
INCHES WILL BE POSSIBLE ACROSS SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...WHILE
NORTH ALABAMA SHOULD SEE LESS THAN ONE HALF INCH.
