...A Dusting in Some Areas...

GOOD MORNING! Well, our predicted snow showers did materialize by
mid-afternoon on Saturday as instability levels increased. Some areas
received a dusting from the afternoon and evening activity. Then the
expected upper level disturbance delivered another quick shot of snow to
parts of North and Central Alabama.

TRAVEL CONDITIONS: If you plan to travel across North or Central Alabama
this morning, check road and weather conditions before heading out. Areas
which received extended periods of heavier snow might have snow covered
roads and patches of ice will be common in some areas where moisture froze
on the roads, especially on bridges and overpasses.

MORE SNOW? Sunshine will break through later this morning over most of the
area. Temperatures will rise to near 40 degrees on average across the area.
But skies will become cloudy again during the late afternoon. There could
additional snow showers, especially this evening. No accumulations are
expected.

THE WEEK AHEAD: Temperatures overnight tonight will drop into the middle
20s under clearing skies. Skies on Monday will be mostly sunny, but cold
air will still be flowing into the area. Temperatures will be a few degrees
warmer than today. Winds will shift around to the southwest Monday night,
but temperatures will still drop to near freezing. Tuesday will feature a
good deal of sunshine and much more moderate temperatures. Some showers
will return on Wednesday as moisture levels increase. Slight shower chances
will continue on Thursday, with increased chances on Friday as a cold front
settles in from the north.

NORTHEAST STORM: Blizzard conditions are possible in the New York City
area today, where 12-16 inches of snow could fall.

ON THIS DATE IN 1960: Four to sixteen inches of snow fell across parts of
North Alabama, from Lamar and Marion County northeastward to Madison County.
One fatality and several injures were reported in automobile accidents of
slick highways.
