...Wet Weather Returns...

Wet weather headlines our forecast today for Alabama as rain should become
widespread this morning. A few embedded thunderstorms are possible, but the
air is too stable for any significant severe weather. Rainfall amounts of
one half to one inch are likely before the rain ends this evening.
Temperatures will hold in the 50s much of the day as the rain falls.

A few strong to severe storms are possible today along the Gulf coast of
Mississippi, Alabama, and the Florida panhandle.
Most of the day tomorrow should be rain-free, but a very deep upper air
trough develops over the eastern U.S., and will drive a strong cold front
through here during the pre-dawn hours Saturday. A shower is possible late
tomorrow or tomorrow night as the front moves through.

SATURDAY: All of Alabama will experience a sharp change to colder weather
beginning Saturday. Temperatures will hover in the 37 to 43 degree range
most of the day with an icy northwest wind. A surface low pressure area is
forecast to move from near Mobile to Eufaula to Augusta, GA, and that
feature has the potential to bring some light rain as far north as I-20
during the day. As the cold air deepens, we might even see a few snow flakes
before the precipitation ends Saturday afternoon. If snow flakes do fall,
we don't expect any accumulation since the ground is relatively warm, and
the precipitation should be light.

We will drop well down in the 20s early Sunday morning as the sky becomes
clear.

STORM ALERT 2006: Our annual severe weather awareness tour begins tonight in
Hamilton. The show begins at 7:00 at Bevill State's auditorium; be sure and
get there early to get a seat. There is no admission charge!
