...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF NORTHWEST ALABAMA AND SOUTHERN
MIDDLE TENNESSEE...INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES... IN
NORTHWEST ALABAMA...COLBERT...FRANKLIN...LAUDERDALE AND
LAWRENCE...AND IN SOUTHERN MIDDLE TENNESSEE...FRANKLIN...
LINCOLN AND MOORE.

* FROM THIS EVENING THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

* RAIN WILL SPREAD ACROSS THE REGION AGAIN TODAY AS A WARM FRONT
MOVES NORTHWARD. A DEVELOPING SYSTEM WILL TAP INTO ABUNDANT
MOISTURE FROM THE GULF OF MEXICO...CREATING THE POTENTIAL FOR
HEAVY RAINFALL ACROSS THE WATCH AREA. A BRIEF BREAK IN THE RAIN
IS POSSIBLE LATE THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING AS THE WARM
FRONT MOVES OUT OF THE AREA...BUT THE RAIN SHOULD RESUME AS A
COLD FRONT MOVES THROUGH LATE TONIGHT. ADDITIONAL HEAVY RAINFALL
WILL BE POSSIBLE WITH THE SECOND ROUND TONIGHT. ALL
TOLD...RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES ARE EXPECTED...WITH
HIGHER AMOUNTS OCCURRING AS YOU MOVE NORTH AND WEST.

* THE MAIN FLOODING IMPACTS WILL OCCUR AS THE RAINFALL INTERACTS
WITH NEARLY SATURATED SOIL AND RUNS OFF INTO AREA CREEKS AND
STREAMS...CAUSING THEM TO RISE AND POSSIBLY FLOOD THEIR BANKS.
THIS INCLUDES TRIBUTARIES OF THE TENNESSEE RIVER...WHERE RAPID
RISES ARE ALREADY FORECAST TO OCCUR MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY.
MORE LOCALIZED FLOODING...INCLUDING PONDING OF WATER ON AREA
ROADWAYS...AND FLOODING OF LOW LYING AND POOR DRAINAGE AREAS IS
LIKELY ACROSS THE WATCH AREA TONIGHT.

A FLOOD WATCH MEANS THAT FLOODING IS POSSIBLE BUT NOT IMMINENT IN
THE WATCH AREA. PEOPLE IN THE WATCH AREA ARE ADVISED TO CHECK
PREPAREDNESS REQUIREMENTS...KEEP INFORMED...AND BE READY FOR
QUICK ACTION IF FLOODING THREATENS. STAY TUNED TO WEATHER RADIO
OR OTHER LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS FOR FURTHER DETAILS OR UPDATES FROM
THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN HUNTSVILLE.
