MORE CHANGES AHEAD: The weather picture is not all that clear (excuse the
pun) for Alabama in the next several days. There will be some changes, but
you may see some additional changes in our forecast in the next 24 to 36
hours. The way it shapes up now is that we look for dry weather tonight and
Wednesday. Some scattered showers will arrive on Thursday. Still a chance of
showers on Friday and maybe a thunderstorm thrown in. If we had to pick a
time, we would say most of those showers including possibly a thunderstorm
would be late Friday and Friday night. Meanwhile, a cold front will come
sweeping through before daybreak Saturday. Saturday should be windy and
colder. We're using 45 for a high, but that could occur during the morning
hours.

There should be some scattered patches of cold light rain during the day
Saturday and we can't rule out some snow flurries late in the day and
Saturday night. Sunday looks like our coldest morning with temperatures well
down into the 20s.
Weather models often leave a bad taste in my mouth. They have flop-flipped
about a deep low pressure area passing just to the NW of Alabama. This
should lessen our risk of any severe thunderstorms in the Friday time frame,
although it is not totally out of the question.

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES: A few of the low temperatures in Alabama this morning
included 27 at Florence, 28 at Pinson, 29 at Alabaster, 31 at Anniston and
Huntsville, 30 in Tuscaloosa and 32 in Birmingham...the coldest in the lower
48 this morning was 2 below at Crane Lake and Orr, Minnesota...coldest in
Alaska was 51 below at Ft. Yukon...90 degrees sounds like summer and that is
what yesterday's high was in McAllen, Texas...there was no snow on the
ground this morning in Gatlinburg, but up in the mountains, 3 inches of new
snow on Newfound Gap and 8 inches on Mt. LeConte where the low this morning
was 16...3 inches on Stone Mountain in Johnson County in extreme NE
Tennessee...Phoenix going through day 104 in a row with not a drop of rain.
It is an all-time record that will be broken every day until it rains.

MY TINY CORNER OF THE WORLD: Got some quality playing time with Little Miss
Molly late last night and again this morning. In addition to the playing, we
sat on the couch together and did a bunch of loving. She absolutely loves to
have her head and tummy scratched and her back rubbed. She curled up on her
blanket right beside me and I rubbed her for about 30 minutes and she moaned
and groaned with delight. We played chase ball. She rapidly goes and gets
the ball, brings it back to me and slams it down on the floor near my feet.
That is her instruction for me to kick the ball again. When she turns the
corner chasing the ball from the living area into my office, the carpet
changes to a hardwood floor and she often skids for 2 or 3 feet when she
loses traction. Of course, I laugh. She often looks at me with an
embarrassed look when I laugh at her too much, but I cannot help it. Life
goes on.
