...Sunshine Returns; Colder Temps...

Sunshine returns to Alabama today along with a new surge of cold air coming
off the snow cover across North America. Temperatures will struggle to reach
the low to mid 40s today with a very chilly north breeze. We expect a hard
freeze tonight with a clear sky and diminishing wind. Most spots will wind
up somewhere between 20 and 25 early tomorrow, with the colder communities
reaching the upper teens.

The weekend will be dry, but temperatures will remain below normal for
early December. A fresh supply of chilly air will roll in here on Sunday,
keeping the weather dry and cold into early next week.

NEXT RAIN: Looks like the next chance of precipitation here will come toward
the latter half of next week. There is little agreement among the computer
model runs, but for now it looks like the best chance of rain will come
Wednesday night into Thursday. Temperatures should be sufficiently warm for
all
liquid.

THE LONG RANGE: We still expect temperatures to stay below normal through
the rest of December, not only here in Alabama but for much of the nation
east of the Rockies.

THURSDAY'S RAIN: Rain totals yesterday included .74" at Riverchase, .69" at
Inverness, .62" at Greystone Farms, .52" at Helena, .51" at Leeds, and .44"
at Hueytown.

WINTER WONDERLAND: Five to seven inches of snow fell on Indianapolis
yesterday and last night. Winter storm warnings are up today from West
Virginia to New England, where four to six inches of snow is likely across a
broad area.

TOO COLD: Cold spot in the nation yesterday was West Yellowstone, MT with
minus 45. Denver's low was minus 13.
